Default Aerodynamic Benefits of Nismo S-Tune V2 Wing

Hello all! I bought my 2006 350Z about two months ago and the previous owner put on a Nismo V2 wing. Does anyone know how much downforce the wing itself gives? I was told by the Nissan dealership that the Nismo V2 body kit as a whole gives about 33lbs of downforce which I'm assuming is after negating the lift the Z has from factory.

On top of that, does the wing really help all that much with traction or is it more to counter the factory lift?

Speculation here but I very much doubt the V2 gives that much downforce as a net amount.

It is possible that the wing can provide as much as 33lbs by itself but that’s insufficient down force to negate the aero lift and push the car into a measured positive down force state.

Why I speculate.... the 350Z NISMO’s rear “bi-plane” rear wing IN CONJUNCTION WITH the underbody aero (smoothed diffuser, muffler, functional aero rear valance (bumper) DO create a true NET downforce in the positive 30-40lb range. And yes, it is noticeable at speed.)

My hypothesis concludes that without all of the functional aero (front and rear) that the Nismo has, the V2 aero helps some but not to the tune of a measured, positive 33lbs of net downforce. Believe that the car is still in an aero lift state.

But a good question... would be interested in seeing if I’m correct or if the V2 is actually free speed.

Very old article on the '03 350z but still a good read. I remember reading everything I could find back then before buying my z two years after. Nissan marketed the car as "zero lift" in nearly everything and any of the Nismo aero bits were tested extensively in wind tunnels, to what degree, would be difficult to determine or find. Unlike Mitsubishi, which publishes all their aerodynamic research in spec sheets, Nissan tends to be more vague on how much an effect the aero parts provide.

33lbs is not an answer to down force..
down force changes by speed of the vehicle.. 33lbs at 200MPH is nothing. if it creates a lift condition at 65-100MPH..

Need more input...

Honestly, I didn't take that into consideration. I have no clue when the kit produces that much downforce tbh. You're right though, he could've been talking about ANY speed. Even doing research online, people will say the kit gives 30-40lbs of downforce yet they never mention at what speed so it's hard to tell without going to a wind tunnel.

Yea I was thinking it's definitely around no lift or just a little below or above it. I'm planning on rocking one of the nismo body kits for the aero benefits but I just wanted to see where I'm possibly at already! Thanks for the response!

Yea I'm really surprised that there haven't been any spec sheets provided by Nissan. I thought for sure they would have SOMETHING to show for the Z but I guess they just didn't feel the need to do so.

Once youve tinkered with aero in a track environment you realize quickly that it is absolutely worth pursuing to the limits of the rules and/or budget. Even a modest amount of lift reduction or net downforce increase can be perceived by an experienced driver on track. If I had to guess id say that wing definitely does something, which is better than nothing. But if you are just driving it on the street, id just stop worrying about downforce altogether.
