Default Rear widebody only!!!

Hi all! I'm a new Z owner. '03 350 touring. I was really wanting to do something different and was interested in doing just a rear widebody on the car, ala 993 911. I'm thinking it would look great with the only issue being molding of side skirts. Has anyone done this, or have pictures of a Z like this that they could share? I've searched and searched and have found nothing. TIA.

148 views on your post, constant posting of threads, yet this forum is dead because you didn't get a reply. Maybe you didn't get a reply because no one had anything to contribute? Maybe you'll be the first! Go make it happen and post the results.

I figured somebody had seen it, or tried it at some point. I guess I'll have to eventually be the Guinea pig. Lo . If it looks like crap, then I guess I could always do the front as well. Thx.

It may look like crap or it may look sweet. Just remember that it all comes down to whether you like it or not. Not everyone will think it's cool and that's why the car culture is so great. You express your individual style.

There was a kid who just posted a kit he had dabbed up with a Gallardo front bumper and a Huracan rear. It took a while to grow on me, but it was different and wasn't the most repulsive I've ever seen. Others will never like it. It's just life.

Post pics of your progress.

Hello and welcome. I do not recall anyone trying this project. Before you go spending time and money on something that will make your car heavier and perhaps slower consider this-
1) You're likely going to buy a kit that may need additional fab work for a good fit. Thing is, I don't know of anyone who will part-out a kit to sell only the rear. So you'll end up paying for pieces you're not using and cannot re-sell.
2) I would DEF spend some time with Photoshop and a pic of your car before starting. You may decide you don't like it. Or you might.

Most folks these days are spending their money on wheels/suspension/brake kits with tangible performance upgrades. Either way, welcome and good luck!

Thank you. All valid points. Theres enough go in the car to get me in trouble as it is. A little slower won't bother me at all.
I am prepared for that. I have a good friend who is a body guy, so that part isn't an issue. I was thinking of the Crown Carbon Crafting 50mm overfenders. They sell just the rears. They look nice to me.
Thise things are in the plans, too. I truly appreciate the input and guidance. Thank you. And just for the record in case anyone is wondering, I'm going to be 49 in April.

Half the "widebodies" for this car look tacky and cheapen the look of the car IMO. I'm into the nice fitting JDM kits myself. I do have to agree with you on one thing, I wouldn't give up the Z for a vette EVER.

From my point of view your pretty near grown (JOKING) so you don't need anyone's approval. My suggestion is to look at the "Exterior" threads on the sub-forums here, filter what is relevant for you.
The "Rock-Star" user of this forum for wide body is a user named "bmccann101" who has won national prizes and taken his car to Vegas for the SEMA show. You'll find his build interesting and inspiring with lots of custom work including 14" wide rear custom wheels. You can also search for a thread called, "Watch me go through Bodywork Hell.." from him. Enjoy yourself and maintain your thick skin in these parts.
