Default 3 Luxeon LED Clear Sidemarkers ARES *REVIEW*

I recentley purchased these from ares....got them on time as said by ares....he has great customer support...and provides alot of information about his products and LEDS....probably one of the best people on this forums i have bought from yet...i can't stress it eneough how much help he gave me when i was researching the product...i think these are the first clear led sidemarkers he has made and i love them....they look great...their just bright enough for my liking....installtion wasn't that hard just got the directions off the forums from another user who bought from him....there are really easy installs if u have the correct tools....took my about 1 - 2 hours because i wasn't very organized and i was running around the entire time trying to find the correct screw drivers and clamps...but all and all the install was a breeze....kinda messy though....sorry no install pics but i have pics of the final install and product.....hope you all go with this buy you wont regret it....also...i installed his LED parking lights....easiest thing i have installed yet....simply pull out old bulb plug in new bulb and put the parking light back in......easy.....now for the pics......

one day Im gonna figure out how to take an accurate photo of these things. they are 3 LEDs, and thus 3 sources of light. but not as obvious as previous version. also a substantial amount brighter.

since cameras generally hate photographing LEDs, I suggest you check out the first photo; specificly the fact that it was still light out, and the ground and curb to the sides of the car are visibly lit. that gives an idea of the light that just 3 of these LEDs puts out.

Awesome! Ares knows, I have been waiting for pics of these for a long time! I think this has about made up my mind on what I want. I am gonna get a little custom job and post the results. I sure wish someone would figure out a way to take accurate pics of LED's!!!! None the less I think I have made up my mind. Thank you for the helpful review!

Ares did a great job with these...i think i have a more accurate photo for you guys....but the leds are perfect...i dunno if i would go any brighter unless i really wanna light up the road but for now they do what i want....and they will stay that way...next is the white Z4 side emblem and white head light reflector....

I would like to see the photo. Also, my goal is really to light up the reflector not to see the 3 led points...

1w.

the 3 and 5w are really expensive. 3 is 30$ a peice, 5 is 50$ I think. you can see how 6 of them quickly gets to 180 or 300$ before the fee for the modification is even brought in.

That's insanely (possibly illegally) bright... can't resist... must.... have...Luxeons....

That's it Brian... I'm ordering more Luxeons. :-P I need brighter reverse lights. So far.... all of my Luxeons are still working and none have burned out. :-D

its addictive, I ordered a bunch a week or 2 ago, and now Im off on spring break, I think I put them all in my car . I wanted to put LEDs in the rear turn signals, and back up lights, but I dont have anymore amber.

I may still try the backup light though

do you know... would a 3w luxeon at 150mA be brighter than a 1w luxeon at 150mA? Ill probably just go look at the spec sheets to see, but if you happen to know. Im thinking of tossing 1 or 2 3w leds into the back up bulb for some added umph.

they could be far far brighter, but its a lost cause basicly. I always run any lights at ~100mA. the max for 1w is 350mA. which means they were right under 1/3 potential. no good way to cool them at a higher current though. so it has to suffice.

DJ takes some liberties with his, as I do with mine. but we understand the impact of the currents we run and accept the risk. If Im selling to someone else though, I have to limit them to a reliable setup. dont think anyone here wants to replace their leds 2 or 3 years down the road when they go dim. at 100mA these suckers will outlive you, your children, and probably your childrens children at normal use(I estimated normal use of 1 hour a day to last over 200 years)
