I have one uninstalled. But the box is broken so I threw it away. I also still have the instructions and everything. I bought it for about $50 but will part it for $30 if your every in the NYC area since I live in Queens. Let me know.

The Honda reall doesn't use a "system". There is still a regular ignition key. You would just need to buy a large pushbutton with normally open momentary contacts, and wire it to the "start" position of the ignition key.

It's really a useless gimmick the way Honda implemented it, if you ask me.

How is it not a useless gimmick on any other car? I mean, all vehicles that I have seen with a push button starter also require a key. It's not like the goal is to get rid of the key, but just to have the starter as a button instead of a further twist with the key.

Does the honda have the option to turn the key to start the car or does the key only go to the run position and you have to push the start button?

As far as the button goes, there was recently a thread on here from a guy looking to add a lighted switch to run fog lights or something. Somebody had put up a link to a website that had a few different switches, but I noticed they also had a push button switch similar to the s2k. You might look around for that.

A "system" to me would be one like Mercedes, BMW, and others have that recognize the presence of a card or fob that activates the "system" without turning a key. If you're going to have an ignition key, why have a separate button to start the car? That is what I was thinking anyway...

To the other poster, I believe the Honda will NOT start by turning the key.

Yeah, the push button START is quite fun. It is also true that the car won't start unless you push the button.

Okay for those of you that do not know, the START button has two main reasons. One, it's stops people from grinding the engine, such as "re -starting" it on accident. Two, it's a fun and awesome thing. hehe well on the honda s2000, after the ACC and the "ON" position, the key doesn't turn any farther. it doesn't start like a normal car, so you just gotta push the button.

A OEM HONda S2000 engine start botton ~$35
A Bosche relay ~$5
4 wires ~$3
DIY install ~$0

That would about cost you less than $50 and a sunday afternoon.

"...the START button has two main reasons. One, it's stops people from grinding the engine, such as "re -starting" it on accident."

If someone is careless enough to turn the key again, they'll probably push the button again, too.

A buddy of mine had his car stolen a long time ago. To keep it from happening again, he wired up a trick solenoid to the ignition switch, and installed a real start switch under the dash. If someone just turned the key or even hot-wired the switch, the trick solenoid would chatter like the battery was dead.

It was useful on dates, too.
