Sparco Grip pedals installed *pics*
Another alternative mod for you base owners..or if anyone wants to change their pedals.
I wanted to get the OEM "drilled aluminum" pedals for awhile now but come to realize that it was actually pieces of aluminum laminated on rubber. Plus: OEM sets are well over 60 bucks! About 75 bucks in most dealerships.
I picked up the Sparco grip pedals online for like $42 bucks most places sell them for a little over 50 bucks. They're actual aluminum pedals with inserted rubber grommet thingies for extra grip. I removed the stock rubbers (that come with the base) and surprisingly they weigh almost as much as these Sparco pedals. Good thing they match the OEM dead pedal I bought from Courtesy awhile back.
BUT!! What you save in some cash you make up for the labor!!
So if you want some genuine racing pedals be prepared to work for it...you need a good drill/ patience and a steady hand! Drilling them into the metal backing was a PIA. I recommend aligning beforehand with automotive 3m before drilling.
The payoff is well worth it...the little grip thingies make sure your feet won't slip even though you're only applying a cm worth of sole! I can't slip even if I try.
From the fourth pic you can see i've found out new funky ways to "heel toe" or should I say "toe side" with these pedals.

You know, I was thinkin about doing that even though I already have the stock aluminum pedals... my reason was to extend the gas pedal more to the left for heel & toe... but those look kinda far apart.

That gas and brake look so far apart, looks hard to heel toe. I like em, but I think for $20 more I woulda gone stock.

I would have gone stock too but I didn't like the fact that they were just rubber pedals wrapping around the pedal frame. I've driven a Z with the OEM aluminum pedals and the Sparcos grip a hell of a lot better and each pedal is significantly bigger. Of course all my kicks have gum soles so that might be a huge factor too.
If I had the OEMs already I wouldn't bother...but if you love heel toeing then these make it ALOT easier.
cheers.

The beauty of installing aftermarket is that you can set them however you like. I actually had the clutch set far to the left so I can pivot my foot from the dead pedal. I did alot of "pretend driving" while I had the pedals mounted on with 3m to get the angles just right. Alot of "science" went into it!
