Can the touring leather heated seats be added to a Track model?
My friend awhile back purchased a Track model. He wants to add the leather seats that re powered and heated from Nissan or anyone selling theirs. I have heasrd that all you have to do is plug into a plug under the carpet, but how do you connect the heated switches ( is there a calbe that goes from the switch to the seat? Any info would help.
Nissan America Tech Support says that there are no plugs in the Track for the Power/Heated seats.
The Touring model is equipped with 3 plugs each side.
1: Seat Belt Sensor
2: Power/Heat for Seat
3: Side Air Bags (if equipped)
The Track has only one for the seatbelt sensor, and one for Side Airs(if equipped).
All Nissan had to do was use a standard harness and install themk in all models.
There is one person here who has wired a set of Touring Power/Heated seats up to the Power Windows Electrical Connections in his Performance model. He says if works fine.
There was a member "Thakattk" that had a set for $900.00 shipped, and there is a ZPresence at 350zFRenzy.com who is elling his for $2000.00.
I know this because I wanted to do the same thing.
I guess I wussed out when I foresaw the power window connection shorting out, killing my electrical harness and the dealer saying " I told you so, I told you so!!!!!!"
See ya and good luck.

Thanks for the info, one thing I cannot understand is why Nissan did not add a "leather Package" to the Track Model. I know my friend could add a set of Classic Soft trim for easy OEM fit, but I know he wants the power and heated option ( OEM)
Its not that that they didnt offer leather, it is the seats and their weight. You can add leather as a dealer option but the power seats and heaters add about 50lbs more to the overall weight.
Allegedly the Track has several things that were omitted to save weight and therefore give better acceleration and response. Yeeah Right.
What makes no sense to me is not using a standard wiring harness, for them all. Unforgivable.
The main thing is that the wiring harness for the BOSE system, was different and they didnt want that expense in the rest of the models, so to save money they had two different harnesses.
I guess Nissan said if people add them on later, how does that profit Nissan, and we(Nissan) can save money with putting in a less expensive no BOSE harness in the others trim levels.
S_cks to be us.

Weight issue is ******** any way, suppodse you weigh 300 lbs, or have a passenger--your weight plus the passengers would exceed 400. I think Nissan just used that as an excuse, My friend's track is cool. But when I get my roadster or even if I decide to go w/ the coupe I will get a touring and try to find some Rays and Brembos!

Besides, the cloth seats would be easier to car for. No worry about "scratching" or wearing the bolsters while getting in and out of the car

TSB done on the cloth seats worked great. I don't slide around in my seats at all. I personally liked the Track version alot more and had peace of mind knowing the dealer covered the upgraded brakes and wheels. To each their own.
Yes but the part cost is $1700.00 plus 30 dealership labor hours to rewire with entire car.
Not worth it.
I sucks to be us, cause I really want the power seats.

If you were to buy a pair of the heated power touring leather seats, I would think that by simply supplying the correct voltage to the seats that you could make them work. It wouldn't be a simple plug and play type swap, but someone with a bit of dc electrical knowledge should be able to make the swap work.
The current load from the seat motors is probably pretty high so you would need probably to run a seperate power wire to supply enough current rather than splicing into an existing wire. The seat heaters could probably be run off that same wire though. I don't know if the switches could handle the same voltage/current that the seats do so it may require a relay in the system somewhere, but that shouldn't be too hard to figure out. There would probably be another relay that went to a switched power source in the system to turn the seat heaters off when the car is turned off, but that may be built into the switches for the heaters though.
It would be an interesting project and it shouldn't be too difficult for someone who knew a bit about electrical circuts.

You will also need a tempature switch that will switch the seat heaters on/off when they reach the proper temp.
Failure to do so will leave the heaters on until they burn out the element. Not just off when the ignition is off, but a shut off for the element when it reachs the right heat.
I have made up my mind that if I go with the Touring leather in my Track, I will just scrap the plans to set up the heated seats, and just go for the power. If power seat only, then the current should not be a big problem for a good auto electrician.
I am just still pondering how this jerry rig wil effect the car's electrical system, and ultimately the warranty.
GuessI am just too conservative to try.

Good point BrickydZ. I would assume that the thermostat switch would already be in the seat like the power controls are, but I could be wrong. Without tearing into the seat or taking a look at a wiring diagram, I couldn't be sure.
