Default Have you installed the clear bra yourself?

Hi!.
Have you installed the clear bra yourself? and if so can you tell me how dificult it was, I have done some window tint, is it simular to that? do you use a soapy solution to make the Urathane material slde in place. I can buy the Deluxe kit that covers the whole front end including the hood for $404.00.
I guess i need some advice before I get involved don`t want to screw up my Z.
Thanks

If you don't want to skrew up your Z I advise you to have it installed by an experianced installer, preferably one experianced with Z's.

just fill the spray bottle with water and one drop of dawn!
But I definitely recommend have a installer do it, it takes a lot of patient and experience to get it right. The new 3m tends to stretch a little, so you have to know how to stretch fit it as well.

If you ever want to get the kit by yourself, I could get the whole kit for you for $350.00. It will cover the hood and the bumper and additional coverage that some of the kit doesn't.

That is a lot of good info, I did have a guy that does it profesionaly come over and he did not use the soapy solution to install and yes! he had a hell of a time doing the installation, he`s explanation for not using soapy water was that soapy water leaves faded areas and the life time of the bra is shorted.
Anyway when we hot to the front bumper things got out of control, we had to tear off the hole thing and that was not easy, the installer told me that my Z was the very fist Z that ever did.
Man I though he was going to take the paint off when he removed it.

Everyone I've talked to says it's more difficult than installing window tint . . . it takes more skill and practice at installing clear bras to get good at it. Take it to a professional.

Myself and Everyone I know uses these guys.
They are top notch
Ask for Daniel.

I am not sure of thier current pricing but a ball park figure is

The bumper and headlight kit is around 330
the hood is about 200 and change or so.

Dont quote me on the Pricing. but it's close.

Look, its not as hard as everyone thinks. Everyones just ill experienced and are afraid to do hands on work. How do you think the installers became good at this? They had to start somewhere. If your carefull and have a good eye for detail you can easily do it. If you want it PERFECT go ahead and have someone do it but it may not even come out good and youll be out even more money. Personally the only person i trust to work on my car is me if its not some kinda of MAJOR work because i trust myself and know that im a perfectionist and will do a good job. Just make SURE you have another person with you, it would be VERY difficult to do alone, i wouldnt advise it. Im 18 and i had no problems doing it myself with my dad. Came out perfect. Just a few little bumps from dust on the hood but barely noticeable.(had a gust of wind..unavoidable) All you have to do is take a spray bottle and fill it up 25% with rubbing alcohol and the rest with water. Keep the area, the film, and your hands wet at ALL times, use more than you think you need too. Also i got my clear bra off ebay for $120...might wanna check it out.

Sounds to me like you did OK! 120.00 fo ra kit is rally cheap.
and I know the installation can`t be all that hard.
But I am going to have this done by a profacioal installer, I figured if something gets screwed it will be under warranty.

I am having the same kit installed for a total of 500.00, but all I got to do is sit back and watch.

i will admit...the front bumper gets to be a pain in the *** to install...finished it up today actually..but im VERY satisfied with the job i did...saved about 500 dollars atleast...i mean the job i did is pretty close to perfect but a few inperfections but i have an eye for detail and you can only notice if you get real close and with the right sunlight...but the way i see it is those very few inperfections are alot better than alot of permanent rock chips in my bumper..lol

I did it myself. It was difficult and took two days. But, I took my time and went very methodically about it. The hood and fenders are no problem at all, those only took like 15 minutes to do. It's that bumper that got me. I did it first, and took about 3 hours the first night. I hever got it perfect, but only I can see the problems and only when I am 3 feet or closer.

If it must be 100% perfect, take it somewhere, at least then if it doesn't come out 100%, you can have them re-do it. If it must be 99% perfect, and you don't mind learning, give it a whirl.

Note: i just read your last post. Oh well maybe next time.
