Cost of fixing this?
Hey everyone,
I was running some errands and came back out to my car in the parking lot and this is what i saw. Some other car swiped my Z. How much do you guys think it will cost me to get this fixed. Do they normally charge by having to paint the entire front bumper or can they just do this damaged/scratched section? thanks.

what kind of compound do i use and can i buy it at walmart or autozone? Thanks.
p.s: i actually can remove that black stuff, but it sure takes a long time and a pain in the ***. It also causes some scratches when i remove the black junk.

for something so small Id probably just buff it out and fill in the rest with touchup.
otherwise get someone to airbrush it in.
a full repaint would be a little excessive, but for a perfect result, might be nescessary.

Had something similar happen to my DB Touring Z two weeks ago. Took it into the dealership and 2 days later had it back just like new. It cost me $430 to get the left front fender edge repainted. Luckily they were able to work around the clear bra installation and not have to reapply it. Expensive... but worth it to keep the car in shape. Unfortunately a lot of people don't care enough in parking lots to watch what they are doing.
Just for the front left edge. I know it was a ripoff and more expensive than going to a smaller shop... but They also fixed my Digishield or clear bra or whatever its called too that was on the front side as well. But that wasn't any major item on the bill. Most of it was labor.
Bastages!!!!
I feel your pain! Somebody scratched my baby the other day. Buffed almost all of it out, but there is still a tiny mark.
Pisses me off. I wish people would take their head out of the clouds.
and the other day i caught some ******** backing into my car. He bumped me twice as I was walking up. He showed no concern for using my bumper as a backstop.
He was about to leave when I ran up and pounded on his window, scaring the hell out of him.
I told him to get out and made him stay there while I inspected the damage. It looked like something that I could buff out, and I already have a small scuff on my bumper, but I decided to give him hell and do my best to try to get him to think twice about being such a careless dope.
I let him go but not before I lectured him for not even getting out to check the damage and told him how most cars have PAINTED bumpers these days.
The car was okay but I took great pleasure in scaring this guy and then lecturing him. I was getting even for the one tiny door ding I had.
It was some 40 year old in a brown older model Mercedes. If you are in socal and see this guy bump your car..... He has had his warning, so you may shoot him on site!

feel your pain. Some S.O.B. did the same thing to my CS Z. Had it repainted at the body shop. Then last week, another jack *** keyed my door, I am applying touch up paint right now with "Langka" solution.
Since my Z is my daily driver. My mindset is that it will get scratch no matter how careful I am with parking. Since I intend to keep this car (eventually become my weekend car), i'll just live with the few scratches and eventually repaint it. :-(

The first pic is before the touch-up paint and the one below it is the after. The very last pictures are the before and after of the rear-quarter side swipe with touch-up paint.

Hey NismoKid,
I can clearly still see the scratch on your door, unless its a reflection of something on the grass. As for the rear quarter panel, it looks clean as can be.

. You can't notice it that well when standing up because that part of the door angles towards the center of the car away from you. Also, in parking garages with orange/yellow lighting, there's no way you can see it unless your face is inches away from it. The rear is a little more noticeable in person because it looks like a layer of rust on it, lol.
Nismokid: Nice work with the touch up paint. But it is still visible on your passanger side door. I just applied 2 coats of touch up paint and will let it mature then apply Langka in 2-3 days. I think i can fill the scratch up with paint. But these metallic paints are nearly impossible to cover up completely.
Luvtopost ~ If you are in the Dallas area, you might want to check out my friend's body shop, he does awesome job if you ever want to get the whole bumper re-paint it.
here is the link about his clear bra, and my friend has a chrome silver Z that was damage at the bumper not long ago. There's a lot of pictures of the damage and after pictures.. and he usually charge something around $300-$350, I know it's not the cheapest, but he adds a lot of additional clear coat and pearls to restore that original shine, and also more durable than the old paint. and all paint jobs are life time quarantee!!

guys,
I got most the scratches out. Just need to do some touch-up with my pen. However, there is a dent which is something i have to figure out. I might have to remove the bumper and use a blowdryer as someone on this forum had posted recently.
