Default Valet Key

Just wondering did you guys get a valet key that restricts access to the bin behind the passenger seat when you bought your z? I didn't get one and thinking that I should've.

Thanks.

You should have... which dealer in the Bay Area did you go to? You should've received three keys, one of which is the valet key.

it's the key with the red top instead of the black. (but you probably already knew that)

I got my car a few months back from San Rafael Nissan which interestingly went belly up a few days back. I've been asking for a valet key from them for a while now but to no avail. I'm glad I wasn't one of those people who paid for cars and are awaiting delivery or had their cars in their service dept; apparently their cars are locked up now. Do you guys know how much dealers charge for a valet key?

Hey waldo, sorry, not too sure about most of those questions although I don't think that your factory warranty is threatened in any way. But I think that you'll have a tough time obtaining any records at this point. As far as the extended warranty, that one looks to be a little sketchy... but I say that as long as you have paperwork, your extended warranty should be valid (as I've read on these boards that ext. war. is not directly through Nissan, but separate companies).

If you are looking for a price on the valet key, you should find Jason@performance or Jeff@performace on this board. They both work for Nissan and always furnish answers to questions. Besides obtaining a key, you'll need to have it programmed, which might increase your costs a little further. What's troubling is that your valet key may be floating around in a saleman's pocket somewhere...

As far as service dealerships, I've heard a couple things about Serramonte and a comments from dealerships in the far East Bay. The rest of the positive comments are generated from the South Bay. I myself am looking for a service dealer (as I've done most of the necessary maintenance myself... but might need warranty claims soon) now as I had my eye on SR Nissan b/c of VERY positive comments that I've heard about them, in addition to the fact that Marin is my old backyard. I purchased at Ellis Brooks in SF, but they aren't open on weekends for service... I might be going to the local dealership in Richmond (Hanlees), but I'm waiting for a report from board member pointfivezero to see how their service is. Hope that I might've been a little helpful.

Why would you let someone you do not know drive your Z? I would never valet my car, I see how some of those a$$holes treat the cars they drive.

No, I NEVER valet my Z, but the principle that waldo should've gotten all that he paid for still stands. The key still does open doors and starts the car... so where is it?

I recently caught a valet guy burning rubber in my car. I wanted to kill that little bastard. He just kinda chuckled like it was cute and I called the management and had him dealt with properly.

I'm the only person who is allowed to melt my tires!!
