Fiberimages CF hatch complete.. weight savings: ~48 pounds
I've never used the rear wipers in the 2 years that I've owned this car, so I'm not going to miss losing it. But if everything you say is true, and the quality is there, I'll definitely be in line for one.
I haven't been following this thread all the way through but I did have a question. There is a counter weight in the lid to help it close. Are you accounting for that in your weight savings? I've seen people remove the weight when putting on a wing to compensate for the wing's weight. I think it is about 10-15 lbs. Will you have problems closing this new lid without the weight?

I know this sort of defeats the purpose, but how much more would the CF hatch weigh when painted?

i'd estimate like 1 to 2 more pounds due to the paint.. its negligable..
i am talking to Yuichi from KurumaZ to setup the group buy..
plz stand by
as for the hood.. that was a 1 off project for James and his Axis drift car..
the hood design will be vented, but with reverse louvers... three on each side. slightly forward of the half way mark on the hood- near the two crease lines thats on the stock hood design.

just curious if this is still around...
any more pics?
i'm definitely in for a CF hatch & hood if we can make sure that it looks completely stock (after paint of course), that it doesn't have any issues with weather, and is nice and strong
thanks in advance!

I spoke with the guys from Fiberimages at SEMA last week, they said the hatch and bumper are ready to go into production... also that full carbon vs. fiberglass w/carbon overlay is not too much price difference, ~$150 more for full carbon.
Cheston, are we ready to get this going yet?
Thanks!

I talked to a lady from Fiber Images at SEMA too and she told me the same. They also had a book of sample weaves with atleast ten different color options that looked interesting (the colored weaves aren't called carbon fiber) But they had a mazda in the booth with orange and black weave bumpers, and hatch.
