anyways it looks good tho!
Bingo!
I figured that as long as I had the cluster in about 20 pieces on my kitchen table, I had a good opportunity to make mine a little unique.
I have a write up for the shift light mod all typed out but it will have to wait a while. I promised Alan I wouldn't post any directions on the mod until he finishes the gig he is working on with the NorCal guys.
If anyone wants to check mine out, I'll be glad to show you. I'll be at the drag races at the CA Speedway tomorrow and the Stillen event on the 5th.

The picture makes it look WAY brighter than it really is, but it is bright enough to see quite well in daylight. The LED bracket is on a pivot mount so I can angle it up or down so it won't be right in my eyes at night. The whole thing cost about $30.00 for parts. Originally it was a 2 LED setup, but I popped one of the LEDs accidentally when I was testing the connections. Oops!
Originally posted by azrael looks like good handiwork, but I'm just curious.. what was wrong with the stock shift light?
Well, there is nothing wrong with it, I just feel like the stock shift light is/was WAY too dim to really be functional. In the daylight you can really only see it if you happen to be looking right at it when it lights up. If you are looking straight through the windshield (like you should when you drive) then it's pretty difficult to see. At least it was for me.
Originally posted by hndumafia that's not the actual nismo gauge cluster though, is it? i thought the nismo one went up to 180, or something higher than stock?
Does Nismo even make 350Z gauges for the American market? All of their gauges that I have seen seem to be for the Japanese market(km/h instead of mph).

Well, yes and no. You have to completely disassemble the combo meter to get to the circuit board and then solder a wire onto the board in the right spot. Took a lot of testing to finally figure out where. There is not a wire or anything that you can simply tap into.

Nope. They only have the JDM cluster which is all in kph and raises the max speed up to 300 kph (180 mph).
