ares,

Your products will sell a bit faster if you actually MENTION them instead of merely hopping up and down

Wow, I thought LEDs were supposed to last forever - is this just a fluke ares?

probably, every LED Ive ever seen has a 10,000 hour life(cept for some extreme output that piaa is not using, and its still 1000+ hours)

manufacturing has imperfection and Im sure they dont all make it 10,000 hours, but even if you cut that by a 10th, thats a year of use. and that shouldnt be acceptable anyway. Id doubt piaa is using LEDs that crappy that theyd fail so soon. they should go dim anyway, not "blow". my guess is they got zapped with some static somewhere; these are static sensitive just like your PC; should ground yourself when working with them.

Well, don't forget that many companies will overdriver an LED for high light output. In their eyes, even if they shorten the LED's lifespan by an order of magnitude, by the time it blows you'll have either moved on to something bigger and better, or the warranty has expired and you'll need to buy another one anyway. Poor business decision or morals, either way.

Not just that... I've taken apart these cheap things. Most likely the resistor they use is super small and it burns out easily and the solder work is crap. The LEDs, themselves are pretty cheap too - inconsistent colors and brightness.
