well, as i mentioned before, if you want to change ALL the lights it's a matter of changing the lights inside the cluster and changing the color of the prints. The prints would be the easy part, you would just need a company that makes the gauges change the color, that's it. The light in the cluster, that's the hard part. You need to find the bulbs specifically for the car that fit there, and if not, you will have to do a custom job and put some colored LED's in it's place instead.

if you want to keep your stock gauges, all you have to do is sand off the orange film then put blue leds.

it's shown on my previous post on pg 7

Ok, 350z people, I need your help asap--jun, you're probably the man for the job.

I need to know what size led's I need to do this conversion on my 350z, how many I need, etc. Also if I can find out how many bulbs I need to replace in order to get this done. I am in the process of making a diy so that all Z owners can do this.

However first and foremost I need to know how many bulbs are behnd the main gauges, and how many are behind the 3 gauges in the middle dash. Also I need the size of led's which are best recommended, etc. (3mm, 5mm, #74 wedges, etc?)

Also, which resistors etc are recommended?
Thanks, and hope to see this done soon.
Accordfreak thanks for posting.

Any one? Even if I can get pics of the leds, as if they are surface mount or what?

I'm going to start with the triple gauge pod, and then do a diy for z owners. Any pics that I can get pre install will help facilitate the DIY process.

GQ, wow, this is awesome. I would greatly appreciate it. This is just an estimate, but I imagine the LED's are 3mm or smaller. I doubt over 5mm.

Yeah, either 3mm or flush mounted? Still trying to find out--waiting for jun or dj tonium's pics.

I cleared my headlights a week after I got my car haha, so I do believe I'm ballsy enough to do this, as well as finally be able to help the z community do somethign special.

Not sure about what size. If you want to know how to open the gauge cluster pm ChrisMCagle, I believe he has taken it apart before, he makes those rev warning lights.

the center console ALL have surface mount LEDS. as for the gauges.. i used a regular wide angle 5mm LED with 330 ohms 1/8 watts resistors.... on the g35 there are about 10 of them for the gauges

350ZTwinTurbo---FYI I did read all his pages. Maybe you did not see the main difference--I have a 350z, he has a G35. Sorry, but I hate when people jump to conclusions. Just b/c it is a similar platform, doesnt mean we can guarantee the same bulbs. Look at accordfreak's dash--Z owners have no where near that many buttons.

Thanks for the info accordfreak--any idea what could be behind the center console on the Z? One led per gauge (one for the digital trip meter, one for the oil gauge, one for the voltage guage?) What size could these be and what type? Thanks bro!

i'm not sure how the center console Z is but for the g35 it was 1 surface mount led for each button. the navi had 2 for each button or so.

and the gauges, it's about 1 LED per 40 mph.. (1 led per 2k rpms) 1 for the fuel gauge, 1 for the temp, 1 for the odometer

gq... you'll find that the Gauge Pod on the Z is much much different. the g35 has actual bulbs that light up. i took apart the entire gauge pod myself to the board, and they are ALL surface mount LED's. the pod itself is 800 bucks to replace. i'm having mine replaced under"Warranty Work" b/c my mileage read out is now bleeding over to other spaces. it looks weird and its hard to read. i guess i pushed on the lens itself too hard to get it back in. BE VERY CAREFUL. you have no clue how sensitive all that **** in there is. but our gauges have the amber tint onthe back PLUS amber surface mount leds. good luck with that one. i'm still contimplating on doing this mod. if i did, i think i want to go red. i just need to take the guage face off and put another layer over the stock i guess. g/l with ur mod. and sorry about the conclusions. always remember. to "assume" makes an "***" out of "u" and "me"

350z tt, you're the freakin man. Thanks for the info I've been looking for--good to see a Z owner helping out a fellow bro ahha.

Take it easy man, and let me know if I can do anything to help you. I know it's going to be tough..probably why no one else has done it on the Z yet? =/ I'm going ot start on the middle gauge pod--if it's a b**** then I'll just scrap the idea. I don't like to bite off more than I can chew, LOL.

Would you say the same holds true for the center three gauges? I'm about to place my order for the leds/resistors so just want to make sure b/c it's not refundable.

How do you plan on changing the digital gauge? Just putting 3 layers of film like accordfreak did for the clock in the G?

BTW, i'd just get them, you might need extra's anyway.

As far as I understand it's just another led? (at least this is what my "led" friend told me ). If not, I do have a tap plastics in the area so its not that big a deal--accordfreak, care to respond?

Sorry for making like Barbara Walters with all the quesions, but in order to do it right I want to know all the specifics.
