The fog light one is something I never heard of, and sounds silly to get a ticket over.

I wouldn't be surprised about the hyper white blinker bulbs, though. These things are supposed to light up amber, and not white. My friends used to get pulled over for having hyper white anything in place of red/amber lighting.

You think that's bad? My friend used to get pulled over every weekend because of hyper white lighting and what not. My car was pulled over once for having white LED bulbs for license plate, and they claim it was blue. They busted a U and followed me far just to pull me over for that.

Have you tried these new Sylvania bulbs that look clear, but light up amber?

The CHP and police in general are very sensitive to blue lighting on cars other than theirs as the color was set aside for police use only. You are best off avoiding it if you can or just accepting the constant "fix-it's".

Also, if the lights are not DOT approved, it is going to be hard to win a case.

Most will have "DOT" right on the lens, if not it might come in the package (like the Sylvania Silver Stars, keep that in the glove box) or check their website. If it says "for off-road or show use only" you are most likely out of luck.

Did he actually (fix-it)ticket you for both the fog lights and turn signals??
I think the fog light ticket sounds bogus if you they are in fact DOT approved, but the whole illegal-white/blue-bulb-thing was why many have bought the EVOstyle.com bulbs or the Ares LED Signals.

This reminds me of an incident that happened to me in college (in the 80's). I had a Volvo 242GT which came from the factory with Bosch fog lamps in the grill. The fogs were actually at the height of the hi/low beams, IN the grill. So one day a donut eater flashes hi high beams at me. Being annoyed for being hi-beamed for no reason, I hit him back with my high beams. Officer Krispy Kream decides to pull a u-turn and pull me over. He tells me "your fogs are illegal - you can't have them there." I told him that the fogs CAME WITH THE CAR FROM THE FACTORY this way. If you have a problem, go call Volvo. He doesn't want to believe me, so he takes a closer look. Sure nuff, the grill is factory. He tries to look around the car and find something wrong, but can't. So he gives me this "well, I'll let you slide this time" crap and drives off in search of some chocolate sprinkles.

It's no different than idiot donut eaters who pulled me over for having "blue tinted headlights." In this case, they were factory Xenon's on a Mercedes Benz SL500. Have a problem officer? I'd be happy to give you the toll free number to Mercedes Benz North America. You can take issue with their DOT approval. BTW, they don't serve donut holes.

you know, I was just reading an article in a magazine about all the states laws and fix it tickets and now, you have to have either amber OR white turn signals....but they still get people for white. Alot of cars come stock with white turnsignals too...a few GM vehicles I know of....

white signals themselves are fine, as long as you have amber reflectors.

You guys are right, at least in CA (other states may vary), I found the doc at the DMV website.
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc24953.htm

This is the whole thing here -
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vctoc.htm
Look at Division 12 Equipment of Vehicles for this kind of stuff.
