Default 350Z Hatchback interior panel

Just got the Wings West NISMO Wing back from the paint shop and need to install it. How do you remove the interior panel from the hatchback to install the wing ?? Directions say to pry it but am wondering what is holding it in place and cacn I just "Pop" it loose with something like a small pry bar.

thanks

you need to get something undnerneath it...then just pull as hard as you can with your fingers

its held on by 6 or 7 orange plastic clips

some might break but no big deal...itll feel like your gonna break the thing but just keep pulling...try and do it evenly...dont put too much stress on any particular area

I am in the same situation as you. I had my Nismo rear wing painted and now I am ready to install. I am looking for the best way to remove the rear hatch cover. The wing installation instructions and the shop manual states that you need a special tool.

also, I have the stock spoiler on the car and I have seen it posted that the Nismo wing has different holes and the holes from the stock spoiler show.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it!

Don't forget to remove the counterweight while you're in there...you will not need it with a wing on the car. Also a good time to get rid of the rear wiper unless you can't live without it.

I did mine and the covers came off fine. It would be good to look up the repair manual to get an idea where the clips are. As far as I remember there are two different types of clips.
Let me know if you need the pages of the manual and I try to find them again.

Cain96,

I see you work for the Nissan Techical Center, do you happen to know if the mounting holes between the stock wing and the NISMO wing are differnet and if they are do they show?

Success

I installled my wing yesterday and here is what I learned :

If the place you bought your wing from will install it for a reasonable price LET THEM DO IT. That said :

Use a piece of wood (1 X 1 X 2ft stick should do it ) to slip under the hatch interior panel You can then pop the plastic clips as you go and remove the panel without scratching the underside of the hatch.

Follow whatever instructions came with the wing for lining it up and marking the holes and drilling the holes (Note my wing had one hole that lined up directly over the rear wiper motor and was very difficult to get to)

VERY IMPORTANT When you are ready to put the wing on put any washers on the bolt then tie a string to it. If you need to take it back out for some reason you will then be able to retreive it. The hatch is double paneled and if you drop anything in there you will not be able to get it back out.

Also remember to coat the edges of the holes with paint or a rust prefentative.

All total it took me about 5 hours to fit it properly and mount it. Would have been worth the 75.00 the shop wanted to charge to put it on.
