This is my first actual post; I joined as a member of this site long before I even had a z hence the screen name. I prefer to read more then post because every question I've ever had I can find using the search. I do appreciate what Kyle has done with this site as it a great resource. I visit almost daily, however I think the "Rich Jerk" banner has gone too far. Not because of the idea; if it were just an idea then it would be ok, I just don't think profiteering off of an idea in this situation is the right thing to do. If you want to help the people of this forum then post the info and leave it at that no need to hot link. If it's a simple matter of money; i.e. you’re not making enough money to keep this site operational and worth your while, by all means say so and I’m sure the members will step forward. I certainly don't have a lot of money to spare but if this site were to go under because of lack of funding and support from its members I for one would step forward and help.

Does it really matter what banner is at the top of the forum? Treat the banner just like any other thread and if it doesnt interest you then dont open it. The owner and mods of the site can put what ever they want on the site to make it profitable and cheaper to maintain. Like it or not to the owner of the site, this is a bussiness and bussinesses are designed to be profitable.
I commend them for what has been done with the site from when i first joined.
My only complaint is useless threads like this that should have been closed as soon as they were opened....

Apparently you haven't read very much of the thread about this issue either.
The monies from this link do not go to the site. They all go to Kyle is what I am understanding from this whole issue.
And treat this banner like a thread and just ignore it? Threads don't appear at the top of every page in big bold blue and red letters so it's just a little harder to ignore.
Just my .02.

Honestly...if it wasn't for people making such an issue out of it, I probably would have never paid it any attention. Actually, I still don't pay it any attention, so I really don't care if it stays or goes.

I am not here to stir up trouble, I just think this whole Rich Jerk thing is a joke. And yes, it does make the site seem immature and low-brow IMO.
