Default Using a little common sense in moving threads.

A couple days back I posted a thread on the main my350z forum about a solution for those with back issues when driving the Z. From numerous posts I know this is an issue for several members. It promptly got moved to the car interior, etc section.

While I would agree my post best fit the interior, etc forum, a lot more people will see it on the main forum page.

If a thread offers a solution that will benefit several members, does it not make sense to just leave it where the most members will see it?

Several of the mods have a make-sure-every-pencil-is-in-the-right-box mentality. While you all may be bureaucrats in training, a little common sense is helpful!

It wasn't me.

You know, common sense would tell you that if you REALLY wanted to help, then you'd put a link to that thread in your sig, rather than complaining about how we should do our jobs.

But yes, I agree that some mods sometimes have "a make-sure-every-pencil-is-in-the-right-box mentality." Oh well, what can you do?

One of the biggest complaints on this forum is that people won't search. While I won't debate the pros and cons of the search function, it does work if you know the tricks. One of the tricks to using it is to search the subject-specific forum. Rather than sorting through hits from all forums, your best bet in finding something is a narrow search.

For those who won't or can't search, the next best thing is browsing the subject-specific forum for what you're looking for.

Those two reasons are partially why this board has an organized sub-forum layout. That's why posts get moved to their sub-forums. (See rule #5 of the TOU).

While it does increase the likelyhood that something will be spotted in the General 350Z forum, if everybody started their threads there, it would be quickly overrun and your thread, like many others would be lost in the flood.

Years ago, one of the 350Z forums I ran across when investigating the new Z was Zcar.com. On it, there is one and only one forum dedicated to the 350Z. All of the posts, no matter what the subject are dropped there. Needless to say, it's virtually impossible to find anything there. And that's considering they have 1/100 the members and daily traffic that we have here.

agreed. Making the rules applicable across the board is the key to success.

I agree with your original decision for placement but as said, it would have become lost due to the traffic. As long as you have peoples attention, why not post it here. That should reach a few til you'r banned for disobediance and belligerance. Chronic Back Pain IS a touchy subject
