Default Boost spike?

Hey I was just cruising with my friends earlier today when I downshifted to 3rd and was WOT. He saw that my boost was at 6.9 when I have set at stock boost. Now what can cause it to go over 5.6? I had the voltage clamped as well. Can anyone help me out on this one?

I dont know if this would apply to a TT . But my gauge will read about 1lb higher just as a I let off the gas from a WOT run . Did he say he saw it spike just as you let off the gas ?

I saw it on the E-01 myself. when you get to boost, the E-01 blinks the amount of boost you are boosting. And it read 6.9 lbs. I dunno what can cause it. I had it set to 5.6.

U have the same problem that i have. Occasionaly i ge ta boost spike of 6.2-6.5 last night i got a boost spike of 7.0. This all came from me e-01 flashing like yours. I dont know what causes this but i dont like it and it scares me. I dont want to get boost spikes and blow my engine or cause some engine damage again.

I have the greddy kit and if I punch it into 2nd or 3rd I spike as well. Its a common problem I've spiked as much as 7.3 if u turn to the graph ull see it just a milisecond that it spikes. It always happens if I cruise into 2nd then punch it mid 2nd gear into 3rd.

But what can we do to stop this? You this could lead into a broken rod or a blown engine!

What do you have your start boost at, if it within 2 pounds of your peak boost you will spike, also do you have it on manual mode or auto learn, I have heard auto learn will keep a more steady boost but I haven't been abke to figure out how to make it work.

I get a moderate spike from 5.6 to 6.3 on a regular basis, but keep in mind, I see it more now that it is sub 30 degrees out. I'm not too concerned as long as it stays fairly close, but if I throw a rod, I'll be the first to b!tch about it here

As far as getting the e01 to auto learn . . . you have to make two or three WOT passes for the unit to learn the boost.

Ahhhh . . .

It should be:

SET: 5.6
GAIN: 10
START: 2.8

That's what Kenji @ Greddy programmed my e01 to . . .

Your "start" is way too high. "Start" is the boost where the wastegates will hold boost to until they start to open. And you have your "set" at 3.8 which is lower than your "start", "set" is what your controller will try to keep your boost at but if you have your "start" higher then I dont know what it will try to do probably go crazy. Plus your gain at 5 might be too low and cause the boost to spike as well.

The settings 350G posted will keep you at stock levels, you can up the start boost to 3.5.

Put them at what 350G posted, except for maybe the 'start' putting it at 3.5 and you should be ok, or if you do not have time to auto learn, just set it to manual and the 'set' to 0

OK, now that it is settled a quick question on the learning mode, what is the exact procedure, I know it says to do two runs in 3rd or 4th gear. I only tried it once but it didn't work, I went on the highway and had it in auto mode and went up to 3rd gear and went to redline then slowed down to around 60 still in 3rd gear and hit it again it didn't learn even after a couple of more runs like that.

Are you suppossed to come to a complete stop and go through the gears again? How is it done?

You know what's really funny about this learning mode is that I tried the procedure a few times and it was still flashing (which meant that it was still trying to learn). Needless to say, after a few days of spirited driving, I glanced down to see that it "learned." IMO, just drive for a few days and odds are, it will learn after a few spirited runs

Im going to change my settings when I get home from work. I will let you know how it goes with this setting. Could this be causing my irregular rpm rise in idle?
