Default How to set AUTO mode on E-01?

i know i asked this a long time ago..but now that my engine is getting rebuilt..after my car is tuned, i'd like the boost to be set on auto (i understand this is safer to prevent spikes) as opposed to manual.

i've followed the instructions, WOT, blah blah blah...it just kept flashing "auto"
anything i'm totally just missing here???
anything to tell my tuner
(i think he had the same problem as i did)

You need to find an open road and make several..maybe 3-5 3rd gear passes at WOT before the indicator will stop flashing. Be patient...it will work.

Are you holding it WOT as long as possible? And repeating.....starting at the same RPM each time?

OK...try this.

Find a nice open stretch of road/freeway. Put the car in 3rd gear and start at around 2500rpm and go WOT until 5500pm or so, and then completely release the accelerator or put in the clutch. Now, dont go into the boost again until you find another nice stretch of open road...put it back in 3rd gear...and repeat. 3-4 times shoudl be enough for it learn...but keep trying.

Also, you might want to increase the gain. Some members set the gain at 30 and the start boost inly 1psi before the set boost. Ei....start boost 8psi, and set boost of 9psi.

sharif:
i'll definately try this out mid feb when my engine is rebuilt...what do u think of the tuning issue? the last thread i posted, everyone had a different comment, i know we spoke about this, but do YOU think i should hold off on the injectors and aam fuel system until a few weeks afterthe motor is "broken in " (i know broken in means a different thing based on who u ask)...or, what i would PREFER to do (not if it is going to be detrimental) install the aam fiel system and injectors, and basically everything at once, i want my car back and dont want to have to keep leaving it in a shop for periods of time after it is back from this last 2 month down time rebuild!
so, sharif (and others who havent given me your opinions), what do ya think?

Ah, the gain must be th ekey, because I think mine wasn't learning 6 psi as I never could get it to 6 psi, so I will increase the gain and try again.

PS I liked your old sig but this one rocks.

I need signatures 101 . . . what program do you all use to make your sigs and what size should the final product be?

I use MS Paint, it can be any size (~706x168 is what I use usually).

Well, I can only tell you what I plan on doing, since there certainly many different ways to skin a cat.

I am planning on installing everything at once, becuase I am very comfortable with my current state of tune. When I drop the larger injectors in, with the FPR and return system, I will still scale my injectors via emanage...so i wont be running pig rich at idle and cruise. That is a start..and you can certainly break in your motor that way. For the breakin process on the dyno, I might just disconnect the FPR vaccum line for the timing...and run a higher constant pressure to keep A/F safe. I dont wanna go through the hassle of removing the upper and lower manifold again, and all that stuff...so I am doing evrything at once..and breaking in and tuning the car all at once.

Opinions will differ, but that is what I plan on. Idle for 20 mins.....put it on the dyno with progressively stronger pulls and boost. Tuning along the way....and then done. Run crappy oil...change it once after idle it.

I am not planning a long drawn out break-in on my motor.
