The only way I would do it is with a friendly dealer or buddy on the inside to help get things done.

I agree the effort might not be worth it, and then you still have a stock engine you would have to pull to build up.

i contemplated the dealer thing too...you would obviously have to remove evrything and turn the car back to bone stock...the problem is...aren't some of the changes with the greddy tt kit permanent (in that someone who knew to look and rule things out would see holes drilled, parts of the engine bay scuffed up, etc. to prove the car was altered)
anyway, i don't want to wait...first off pay labor to remove tt and make engine stock...then wait on dealer..then pay someone to remove the stock motor the dealer had just installed...hmmm, i wonder if you could just tell the dealer to pull the motor and give you the other engine in a crate...i might be on to something (very wishful thinking)

The main way someone might be able to tell it is FI is the fuel injectors so those would have to come out being time consuming in additio to all other parts, and the harnesses which is where having the harness patch comes in handy

The scuffing might also be a giveaway around the turbo areas, otherwise the car can be put back to stock, oops I forgot the injector harness which has splices in it.
Not an easy task.
thye prolly wouldn't inspect any of the harnesses/wiring...do you think? they see the gaping hole and think "mechanical failure"
you know a Nissan spy is monitoring us right now...he's outside my window...sitting in a 1983 datsun z, oh...wait a second, that's my car, and there's no one there...i'm starting to get paranoid

I agree but the injector harness might be a giveaway even if you patch it up, you would probably have to replace it.

Nissan has definitely done something squirrly to the 04 ECU. I know Technosquare has been having a LOT of problems flashing the 04 ECUs and making it all work. As a matter of fact he comes back tomorrow from Japan where he was hacking on it some more. I heard some rumors that there were even some Unichip guys down at Technosquare recently working with Tadashi to see why the Unichip setup they had wasn't working on late model 04 ECUs.
G35TT, the question about whether or not you should take it to the dealer is really a financial question. If you want to continue running TTs, I believe you have to do the forged internals..better clutch...look at spending at least 8k even going the cheap route. If you current situation cannot support that, I hate to say it, but maybe you should cut your losses and go the dealer route. Even if you do that, you are still looking at paying for the labor to go back to stock and having to fight the battle at the dealership. This may even involve an investigation on their part because they are not going to fork over a new engine very easily. But, at least you can always sell your Greddy kit really fast though. Its a really tough decision that only you can make since you're the guy that will be paying all the bills, all we can do is be honest with you and tell you that this game gets expensive really quick, really fast.
Turbo toys sold me a short block for 650 and shipping was only 65, so 715 shipped. The crank turned out to be bad, but Jim was very cool about it and we worked out a deal on a polished plenum I had been eyeing anyway. I ended up ordering a new crank from Performance Nissan for 545.
Here's a list of goodies...
Block..715 turbo toys
Crank...545 Performance Nissan
Pauter rods...1180 MRC motorsports
Arias pistons...720 through my performance shop
ARP head/main studs...425 MRC motorsports
ATS Clutch...1950 RC Racing
Gauges.....~1200 (Defi BF series, boost, oil press, egt; AEM wideband) www.nonstopmotorsports.com
Gasket kit...180 Performance Nissan
Oil Pump...180 Performance Nissan
Tial springs...66
eo1 to emanage wire...20 Alamo autosports
gauge pod...20 z1auto
Samco sport hoses...150 Vivid racing
ngk plugs 1 step colder...45 rc racing
Labor ~3500 for machine, engine R/R, gauges
If you add up all of the above, I think its about 10-11k. I didn't even mention the RC injectors, AAM fuel return sys, Crank angle sens wire, and the new fuel sys gizmo for the fuel return sys. As mentioned, it gets expensive pretty quick. Think before you jump.

I decided not to do the dealer thing because first it's a waste of my time to try, but on top of that I'm trying to get back up as fast as I can. Gonna get a used engine, then I'm going to do the forged internals thing SGP or AEBS, I know SGP is cheaper but I'm going to see what kind of deal I can get also it's alot closer so I wouldn't have to ship or ship back anything. On top of that I'll have a boost and A/F gauge along w/ the boost controller. Do you know if w/ the Greddy e mange software I can get real time display of boost, A/F and all that while it's hooked up to a laptop? I appreciate all your guys' feedback thanks all, I know I'm not the only one heard about a few here on this forum, what's the count up to now? 8 or 9? This is my answer to the selling question "HELL NO" hahaha, I'm addicted to booost!
I'll find out tomorrow if I got an engine and if I'm going to go SGP or AEBS. The thing that really gets me and probably the only thing I'm mad
at is that my car has only 7553 mi on it

is it that far off whoa. You know the number of blowns w/ stock boost levels? Wonder if we can file a lawsuit, because GReddy said you can run the kit out of the box and shouldn't have any problems. Anyone look into that?
It only takes a day to pull a motor and break it down to the block and crank. But my tuner shop was very slow to pull it out partly because they are overbooked and understaffed, partly because of waiting for my parts to come in. So, it depends where you take it to get worked on. Right now my new block is at the machine shop getting the cylinders machined and waiting for my crank to balance it. Once they receive my crank, it will be done at the machine shop and bearings will be ordered. Block put back together and installed in my Z.
