Default ATI and Vortech S/C Questions

I am going to be getting a supercharger in the next few month, and I am trying to decide between these two. I have done a lot of research and have seen a lot of people upgrading there fuel systems and getting a A/F gauge.

Is there much of a diffrence between these two kits? I am leaning toward vortech because they are cheaper and I am on a tight budget. I know a guy who is a close friend (he knows whats he's doing) and hes going to install it for me for free.

Whats the average cost of getting your car tuned after going FI?

Whats do you think the total cost would be? ( Install is $0)

Thanks

I went with Vortech, mostly because of my guy that does my work has had a lot of experience with this kit and he's never had any problems. The kit is a reliable quality kit, and you should get a quality tune for you and the cars sake. A tune should run you under 500 bucks and that's estimating high to be safe.

I wouldn't trust procharger. It doesn't come with a timing solution. The Vortech comes with the split second box, which allows you to safely tune the car. Several engines have bit the dust with prochargers. Only a few with the Vortech and Vortech has sold a lot more units. Those with the Vortech who have had engine problems could be from bad tuning.

The Vortech runs rich out of the box (about 10:1 A/F) but it is safe and should give you around 330-350rwhp without tuning.

I think the HKS kit is good for someone that is not looking to make big power. I have no personal experience with it, but it seems to put out decent HP numbers and a good amount of TQ.

From what I have read, it is not compatible with '04 models, but I guess you don't need to worry about that. It is really too new of a system to make a determination at this point. I think because it is not a great "bang for buck" option, not a lot of people have purchased it. It costs more than the Vortech and puts out less power. Is it safe and reliable? Too early to tell in my opinion.

No idea what you are talking about. The supercharger does make noise at idle but it is caused by vibration. Definitely does not sound like a whistle.

The bypass valve does not make a whistling noise. It makes a shhhhh noise. And it is not something to worry about at idle. You can hear it while driving, but there are ways to muffle the sound if it bothers you.

I don't know if Vortech has figured it out but, you can adjust the bypass valve. Mine makes the "whistling" noise from time to time. It doesn't bother me.
