Default Vortech and 2.87 pulley

I have read both that you can and can't use this pulley. Those of you using the 2.87 please let me know if you had any issues. I read you have to milll the pulley. Is this true? Also, how much hp did you gain and how many lbs of boost are you getting?

I was the ONLY one that had problems with the 2.87 pulley . If you buy it from Grubb's , they have them that have been milled by Vortech . The one I got was bought from Vortech and wasnt milled yet .

I don't know about milling anything. We have three cars out here running the 2.87 pulley with no problems and they were bought directly from Vortech. Boost is around 11 to 11.5 psi at 6500 rpms. The cars are putting down anywhere from 415 to 435 rwhp.

I was wrong then . Vortech must of given me a pulley that hadnt been milled to fit then . It tore up the edges of the jackshaft . Ive had it milled since and going to put it on soon

Is there a way to visually tell if the pulley has been milled or not?

You can compare the edges of the 3.12 and the 2.87 .Mine [ 2.87] was thicker on the edges and so was the concaved part . SO when I put it on it was resting up against the jackshaft . I didnt notice it and didnt think to check it . I would amagine that Vortech has made sure that any of them going out to G and Z owners , that they are milled off now

Booger -

Is the power jump noticeabe with 2.87 compared to 3.12? I saw a 60lb-tq jump at 4k rpms when I strapped mine on, of course I had the reflash done also, but the car is so much faster with the 3.12. Just wondering because Im def. gonna strap on the 2.87 this summer when I upgrade the internals. Just curious.

Awesome! Are these numbers with cams? My best dyno so far has been 380...lowest was 362 on a dynojet....wanting to cross 400+ I am going to add the crawford cast plenum, 2.87 pulley, get the car retuned for a leaner a/f (I am about 11.1 right now) and cross my fingers.

I got 415rwhp and 356rwtq without cams. The other two cars have JWT cams.

I just installed cams, test pipes, bigger injectors and a prototype fuel return system. The car should hopefully be up and running tomorrow and dynoed Tuesday or Wenesday.

Bill, I have to keep the details of the fuel system quiet for now. I will say that they are smaller than the 550 injectors you used. We figured it would be better to go with a little bit smaller injector so the cars runs and idles well when not in boost.

I will PM you with details once the install is complete and the car is tuned.
