Yes... The BOV is designed to vent boost pressure at idle and normal driving conditions. Only when you go past 1/2 throttle to WOT will the BOV close and therefore build boost.

Ok just called Vortech and found that out. Now on to the next problem! I took her out for a test drive and as soon as it hits boost it bogs down like VDC is on but its off! Vortech said I need to have the car tuned but I thought this was a out of the box system! Have any of you had these problems?

Does it bog or does it feel like hitting a fuel cut? Is it around 4000 to 4500 rpm? If so you may have the inline fuel pump wire backwards. I did this when I installed my Vortech last year. Let me know if this works. Also, make sure you get an airfuel and boost gauge for that bad boy.

Just took it for another spin. At about 3k it falls on its face! Just drops off! I swear its like VDC is on! I need to order a good air/fuel!

I would still try to reverse the lines on the inline pump just to see if it works. Good luck

Got a quick question for you as I'm new to Vortech. At about 1/2 throttle or slightly more, I get to around 4" to 0 and the BOV closes. But I don't really build boost unless I'm at or very near WOT. Otherwise, I seem to plateau and stay around zero and sometimes drop off--as if the engine, with RPMs climbing, needs more air than the blower can provide through a 1/2 closed throttle plate.

Is it normal to have boost continue to build only when at or near WOT?

Yep you're good... If you want you can tighten the BOV nut a half turn or so and it might close a little sooner, but that's pretty much how it works.

Thanks.

Intuitively speaking, it would seem that, even with a 1/2 throttle, the boost should keep climbing as long as the BOV closes as long as the RPMs are climbing. Can't quite figure out why that doesn't happen unless the throttle is almost wide open.

Sounds like your belt may need tightened. Another thought is the BOV is not adjusted properly. Although, I can modulate my boost with the throttle.

Belt feels tight and doesn't squeal. BOV is a new replacement (the one that came with my kit was definitely defective) with ~7 threads showing. Closes at 4" or so. Are you able to continue building boost at 1/2 throttle without flooring it--or does it plateau out at around 0-1 lb? I can get the BOV to close at 1/2 throttle, maybe a bit more, but can't build boost unless I really open it up. Just gets up to 0-1 lbs and stays there, then drops back--even as the RPM steadily go up with the car accelerating. Power seems fine, but boost only really comes on with WOT.
