Default Who Has Installed A FI Kit On A Stock Bottom End And NOT Had Engine Problems?

I have read so many times about this kit being risky and that one. Let's hear a roll call of people who haven't had problems. Please include the kit, what boost, how much WHP, and if you would go that route again.

I second this one. I'm real close to going FI but coming on here and reading about all the blown motors is a little intimidating. Let's here from those who have had little or no problems with their setup and what setup they are running.

I have had almost no problems with my Vortech kit after almost 1 year of abuse. I did have a problem several months ago with a fuel line popping apart.

Power Mods:

Crawford plenum
Kintex Resonated Test Pipes
Borla TD Exhaust

NO problems! Vortech SC with 7-8 pounds boost generating 338 rwhp. Would not hesitate doing it again.

I installed Greddy TT about 1 yr ago i have had 0 problems with the engine
iam running the stock boost. also i installed turbo timer and E01
iam getting 9000 to 14000 rpm spikes sometime (still trying to fix the problem)
when this happens the emanage does not know what to do above 8000 rpm so i belive it resorts back to the stock ECU setting so it advances the timming and leans out the mix.

i dunno, I'm getting the impression the Emanage kinda sucks and is partly what contributes to blown engines with greddy kits

I don't think it's the E-Manage, I think it's the lack of tuning ability from either the shop or owner. (maybe even no experience with the 350Z)

Over a year and 8000 miles on my Greddy twin turbo kit. No real problems at all. Currently running 411RWHP @8psi ever since November.

It's the tuning that makes or breaks any FI set up. 90% of blown motors were tuning issues (i.e. to much boost, running lean, not enough timing retard....)

No problems here so far, but its to soon to tell. I've only logged 6000 miles with the APS kit. Drag strips are opening soon

no problems here either. 467rwhp.... 13,000 miles of the worst abuse any boosted 350z has been thru. im the guy that floors it at every light and races anything from mod'd cobra and vipers to stock RX8's... the same guy that does rolling burnouts in traffic to show off and slides thru any turn im familiar with... drivers license honestly revoked more times then i can count in my head.

these engines will hold up if done right.

I second his statement! I'm the reason people get pulled over in Z's doing nothing, just because they saw me at the light before doing second gear 40 mph burnouts!!! 70,000 miles on car with 10,000 of those on my APS TT, with 0 problems, except going for my 5th set of rear tires soon. :-( !!! It all comes down to who installs and who does the tuning... Also at least 25 miles of that has been at 1/4 mile @ a time....

5 months and 5,000 miles on my Vortech and no problems at all. I run the 3.12" (9lb) pulley but consistently see over 10psi of boost when taken to 6600rpm. I dynoed with the stock pulley at 357whp @8.5psi. I'm sure I'm close to 380-390whp now with the additional boost and other mods since the last dyno.

It's not the eMange, its a faulty connection on the RPM adaptor. Tony is installing a new one to fix the problem. I had the same issue, and just took it apart and rewired the adaptor..works fine now. Maybe it was a bad ground.

I have always felt that the eManage, especialy when tuned via pressure, is the next best thing to a stand alone. Most people have no idea how the eManage actually works.....it's actually very powerful...and includes injector AND ignition drivers. This ain't no SAFC.

I had 14,000 miles at 8.5psi with no problems. Took the engine apart, and the rods bearings were like-new condition.

Proper fuel and tuning is the KEY! I cant stress that enough. Get a return fuel system, the timing harness, and I think you have a pretty powerful setup.

I've got a Vortech with stock pulley (8 lbs) on a stock G35 coupe engine with a straight-out-of-the-box tune via Vortech's Split Second timing box. I've gone 1500 miles with absolutely no engine problems. From the very first key turn, the SC worked without a hitch--other than needing a replacenent for a leaky BOV.

I'll be getting a dynotune this weekend and I'm a bit worried that playing around with the safe tune that Vortech supplies may make the system less safe even though more potent.

Any chance you can make it to the Cape Cod meet on May 14th?

Here's a thread started in this forum about it:
https://my350z.com/forum/north-east/113444-cape-cod-z-n-g-meet-may-14th.html

The reason I ask is that I know someone that really wants a Vortech but would love to see one installed in person and he is from MA and will be at the meet.

Let me know if you can make that as we'd love to see your car as we are all enthusiasts.

LOTS of ppl with stuff like Vortechs, APS TT's, Turbonetics, that have kept it all under 9psi will have no problems with blowing their engine. Its the stupid people that boost over 11psi and dont upgrade a single engine part that blow.

15 months, 8K miles of nothing but pedal to the floor abuse at 9psi and no major problems. I was confident I would not have issues for another year, but want to run more boost, so I built. As said a million times before.... Tuning is key!
