Default Re: APS TwinTurbo Group Buy?

Please exlain why we can not set a Group Buy. I am refering to:

https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/115516-aps-twinturbo-group-buy.html

This sounds really stupid. Please don't close this thread, we all want and need to understand the reasons. Should we do it in another Forum?

Thanks!

If you posted a GB for a turbo in another forum it wouldn't generate enough interest.

On the other hand, I don't buy that argument of APS not allowing dealers to sell below MSRP of their turbo kits!!!

Why isn't it like that for their other products, say for the WRX and STI??? There are plenty of GBs and they SURE don't sell for MSRP!! Why would the 350Z be any different for the APS products.

Fine, they are not allowed, but there has to be a good reason. Okay, in my PM, you said:

"because companies were getting on here and starting group buy's without getting sponsorship status (it's pretty cheap too), in other words, taking away from the vendors."

Fair enough. I'm not a vendor, I am just a member here trying to buy a TT kit. I don't care who is selling it, I just want a fair price. I know you can't moderate and follow all threads and check who is who... But at the end, I think it's a dis-service to the 350Z/G35 community. It'a a high price to pay anyway...

my 2 cents.

Thanks, you can close it now if you wish.

Well, xxlbeer made a good point. If you can get a vendor to do the group buy, then they are allowed. If it is not through a vendor, then no. SGP Racing is the only vendor (I think) that sells the APS TT kit, so try to see if they want to set something up and keep us updated.

IIRC Sharif's group buy prices compared to what he sells them for now are not as money-saving as they were, so "gobs of money" would be incorrect. But no, they are not allowed anymore unless they are done through a vendor, but you guy's can't get 20 people ready for a group buy and go to the vendor and then get turned down, what do you tell the 20 guys that were getting money ready to pay and expecting to get a group buy? I would get a vendor to approve the idea first and ask if I should put a feeler up and then see about pricing with the vendor and then start the group buy, otherwise you'll just end up letting people down.

Actually, i've heard that from quite a few people about APS not wanting any price fluctuation (under MSRP...lol).

No idea...you'd have to ask Peter @ APS.

Agreed....alot of guys have benefited from personal group buys on this board recently. On everything from rods and pistons to ARP hardware and fueling solutions. I think a little bit of discretion has to be used in this case. I agree if it is a vendor GB who is not a sponsor.....but Joe Public..thats rediculous

I stated where the MY350Z.COM STAFF stands.

We do not know who is who, being on the internet. So it could be a vendor getting money without having to pay for sponsorship, which takes away profit from sponsoring vendors. Now, what if it isn't done by someone who works for a company that isn't sponsoring the site?...read below.

How 'bout 'em? He doesn't sponsor the site since he became an admin and he doesn't advertise it in his signature, so he isn't violating any rules.

what if there is something that no vendor here can get/sell, and its known that the person isnt a vendor.

"gobs of money" is of course incorrect, but say 25%, thats enough.
