Default Sleeved/decked block problem.... going to do engine #4...

Hey Guys

Here it goes... My AEBS sleeved/decked engine has got a leak between the water jacket and the combustion chamber at the #6 cylinder... either a sunk sleeve or a blown head gasket. Can't see why a head gasket could blow since I was never boosting when ths happened, but I think that the first overheat that I had might have contributed to its deterioration...

The leakdown result on that cylinder was about 90% (retention - 10% leak). The car does not overheat now and drives normally, only pushes out hte coolant into the reservoir on long drives... there IS a very very slight hint of antifreeze vapor odor when I come to a stop... but no steaming from the pipe...

I will be taking the car in on Friday, we'll know more after that. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. This truly sucks!

Either thinking of selling the car after putting in a stock engine... or going forward and fixing the current one... Son't know yet.

That sucks Gurgen, hopefully it isn't a sunk sleeve.

Good luck, Gurgen.

Damn Gurgen I feel for you. Nobody deserves this many headaches. I know how badly you wanted this done right and it sucks that this had to happen. I would honestly say sell the car because who knows what is going to happen next if they ever get it together right. Then go buy a lottery ticket because your luck is going to turn around. It always happens like that. Keep your head up bro. If you decide to keep going, good luck!! I already thought you were one crazy **** for not giving up yet so I wouldn't put it passed you to go to #4!!!!

Hey guys... thanks for the sentiments... It really does suck, but that whole thing with the luck turning around, at this point I am not so sure.. "3rd time is a charm" thing should have kicked in here. Maybe the sacrificial virgin will do the job...

Was it when we were coming up Geary?

I'm surprised the CO sensor didn't show anything when we flushed the cooling system. The leak must be very minimal.

Don't hesitate to call me if you need any help.

Man, I've read your postings for several months now with all the problems you've had getting that car where you want it. I feel for you...that's a serious string of bad luck.

Maybe you'll have some GOOD luck and it will just be a head gasket with no motor damage. I hope so.

Andrew ---- exactly then... Remember that I didn't notice right away that the car had overheated, it must have been a few seconds (maybe as long as 10) before the car went into limp mode, at which point I definitely took notice...

If you keep having all these problems with resleeving your blocks why not just forget about resleeving your next block and just do the forged internals with a factory block?

Is AEBS offering to resleeve another block for free?

I am sure AEBS will cover the block fix.....but not all the labour to remove, teardown, rebuild, and re-install the new motor. I remember Gurgen mentioning he had confirmed that already. This whole scenario is taking the phrase " you gotta pay to play " to new levels.....unfortunately
