I am hooking this vortech FMU that comes with the vortech supercharger to another car. My question is.... What turns the fuel pump on? I gave power to the pump and the pump turned on right away (this is out of the box not hooked up to the car). I thought that the pump would only engage when a boost was present. Do I need something else to control when it turns on and off?

I have the fuel pump and the blue piece that has a vacuum port on top and an IN and OUT fuel fittings. Thanks

 

The SS box controls when the pump is on.

 

The S.S. box receives MAF signal, RPM and manifold pressure and decides when to turn on the fuel pump..

 

The SS box turns on the fuel pump with a boost sensor and rpm signal . The blue thing you have is the FMU .Since you dont have a SS box, your going to have to find some type of switch to to send power to the fuel pump . So it turns on at a set rpm , and or boost setting . Once the pump is running , the FMU will increase the fuel preasure as the boost rises . That is done by running a vacuum hose from your maniflold to the FMU .

 

OK great. Ill hook the ground up to my hobbs switch so that the fuel pump turns on when the switch closes the circuit at boost > 0 . Thanks
