I'm thinking of getting the Greddy TT kit but I have seen so many post of members blowing there engines.

Questions:

1. Has anyone blown there engine on the stock PSI? How long have you had your TT kit? Why do you think it blew?

2. If I want to run stock PSI what do I need to be safe?

3. For those with blown engines what happened?

I was planning on running the stock PSI until I can build my engine but if engine's are being blown on stock PSI maybe I'll just save up the money for the APS.

1.) Not that I know of.

2.) GReddy TT kit with FMIC, HKS SSQV Blow-Off Valve or GReddy Type RS Blow-Off Valve, Altered Atmosphere or CJ-Motorsports Return-Fuel System (I prefer CJ-Motorsports), Walbro 255lph In-tank Fuel Pump, GReddy E-01 Boost Controller, Technosquare reflash to control ignition timing. That's what I would suggest.

3.) The only one's i've heard of that blew when they weren't running much boost...was most likely due to: low oil and the engine was starved for oil, or scattered ignition timing occured.

 

Just put the TS "Greddy Reflash" to run @ stock boost and enjoy the kit, you don't need to worry for anything more

There have actually be several Greddy blow-up at stock and near stock boost levels..anywhere from 5psi to 6.5psi. One member drove his car one block after the install, and his motor was damaged, and requires a rebuild.

The Greddy kit is very scarey in terms of its out of the box configuration. But with a couple of simple bolt ons, and proper tuning, it is a very capable and upgradable system, and priced very low.

TO make it safe, you must install:

1) Return fuel system (I sell the AAM system on my website for $999, and several memebers are using it). CJ Motorsports also sells a return fuel system.

2) Shielded crank wire angle sensor wire (talk to charles, Phunk) $75


3) Walbro 255 Fuel pump ($95)

4) Emanage Ignition timing harness ($35)

IMHO, these items are needed, even for stock boost levels, if your goal is reliable and consistent power. You might get lucky and run the car for thousands of miles without these items, but given the track record with the Greddy kit, I consider these items a must have.

 

Yes you can blow uR motor on stock boost it happen several type to various people.If you wanna make UR Z ultra fast. it just depends on how much money you have. If you want fully built+TT and everything else(Rims,Brakes,BodyKit,Suspension,Tires,) you are lookin at 30K easily.

 

If you do the math, the APS "appears" to address most of the current issues and will minimize the labor hours by putting it all together one time. Personally, I would love to sell off the Greddy TT and get an APS, but due to budget constraints, that ain't happenin'

 

Any information on those who blew there engine with the stock PSI? Just wondering if it was there fault or was the kit to much for the engine?

For those with the Greddy kit and no mods to there engine can you post any feed back on how everything is working and what if anything have you noticed about the kit?

 

I have a Greddy kit on a bone stock motor and have had no problems for 8 months now. I love the kit and it totally changes the way the car drives. I ran stock boost for 7 months and just recently added some fuel components and upped the boost to 6.5 psi. Dont believe the hype. You can own a Greddy kit and not blow your motor.

 

I should get my car back tomorrow. I will be boosting 8.5psi on stock internals. look in my sig for my extras.
