It's official...new FI member!
I'm now an official member of the FI club. Over the past week my baby has been undergoing an operation to obtain FI greatness. I picked her up on Friday night and all I can say is that the operation was a success. She is putting out about 325 at the rear with the procharger and borla exhaust.
Trying to describe the power to someone who has never been in an FI Z is like trying to describe the color blue to someone who has been blind since birth. From stand-still you rev and let fly. The azz end tries to come around you as you put the hammer to hell. You come up fast on the revs and you swap feet and go for second. The rear still thinks it wants to lead as it tries to come around again. You press on and swap feet again and grab third. The dotted lines start streaming into a solid line as you are slammed into your seat. A wicked grin spreads across your face as you contemplate the mere idea of going into fourth. You ask yourself for a microsecond if that's a good idea. "are you mad? You be your sweet momma it's a good idea!" The clutch kisses the floor once again as you pull fourth and slam it home. What a total and complete rush. The car feels so tight and smooth as the blower whines away reminding you of how much power you have at your fingertips.
I came to realize that numbers are just numbers, you have to experience the feeling to really KNOW what they mean. A lot of us (me included) will sit there and say "I want 450 horse...or 500 or 600 horse out of my Z". I had the same thought prior to the operation for my car. For those of you who have gone that extra mile and have a 500 - 600 HP Z, that must truly be a thing to behold.
"With great power comes great responsibility" - we've all heard it, now I understand it. To know that almost anything on the street at this point is your prey. It can be a serious power trip and I have to keep myself on a short leash since it's all too easy to grab 2 gears down and start to play.
Only two points that I want to try and get ironed out after the install. The first is the belt squeal when you first start up. My friend that owns the shop who installed it wants to try and experiment with a new way to tighten the belt to get that noise to stop. The second issue is when you are in any gear and try to roll on it smoothly, the fuel pump tries to dump too much fuel into the motor around 4300RPM and the car stumbles just a tiny bit before slamming you back. I believe that is a small tuning issue that needs to be adjusted with the A/F mixture. Besides those two items, I am more than pleased with the setup. If anyone is interested I will post pics and my dyno later on when I have time.
And last but not leasrt, I have to thank all the guys down at Altered Speed to putting me first on their list and getting this done so quickly. You guys really know how to take care of a buddy!
Thanks for listening, and sorry about the long winded story.

It was already tuned on a dyno and on the street. I believe all the tunning has been complete. Unless there is something I'm missing, everything is finished. They might have been keeping it mild to try and keep the engine alive... I'll be going back to the shop to get the oil changed in the SC next week and i'll talk with them a little more. I DO need to get the little stumble taken care of, but that's just a matter of adjusting the sliders on the FMU.

Yep, I have driven almost all brands of SC and Turbo kits on the market for 350Z's and they all are very fast. It is not like bolting on a new exhaust and wondering if you can feel the difference.

I spoke with another buddy of mine about the upgrade and dyno. I mentioned that the dyno that was used is a Mustang dyno and he mentioned that these tend to be more conservative than the dynojets. I don't know what the difference is personally, but here is a link to the shop where I had the work done and they have a pic and info on the dyno.

If anyone has any info on the different numbers to expect between the two, I would like to know.

Most of the guys on here quote Dynojet #'s which are aproximately 13% higher than a Mustang's #'s! Your 325 on a Mustang would equal about 365 on a Dynojet.(IMO)
It's a total blast to drive
We got the stumble taken care of and now it pulls even through the revs. The FMU needed a slight adjustment for that portion of the rev range. It's such a great mod because you can keep it docile if it's out of the boost, but if you drop the hammer, LOOK OUT!

p.s. - I'll look at getting the A/F and dyno info on here when I get back from vacation.

because they are friends, I only paid cost for the parts. I kept the engine stock and all seems good so far. From what I can tell, if you keep it mild, no rebuild is necessary.
Keep ya posted.
