what is your trap speed?

Shift at redline.

You should see very low 13s with any hint of traction. look for traps 111+

What is the need to go to redline if you're making all of your torque around 3k to 6k, I was told shifting at 6k is about where you want to be and I believe it from seeing different dyno's.

with that theory,

just make sure that you are not falling below that torque plateau when you are short shifting.

I don't know the shift points (speeds) .. or his dyno ... so I just told him to wind it out. Also, shifting at a lower RPM will slow your ET down since you will be shifting once more than usual through the 1/4 mile (or so I would think since you are coming up on 110+ mph)

Wow .. im good!

Honestly, with that trap...you have mid-12s in the car. It just depends on how bad you want to beat the hell out of your drivetrain.

You are prolly cutting 60fts in the 2.15+ region ... right? If you can get it down to a 1.8 (which you SURELY can) with a damn good set of rubber and no care in the world for your drivetrain ... you will easily see mid-12s. It is your call. Slicks are a recipe for great times in the car ... also a good way to snap the axles too.

Good luck racing

Jim

Your power peak is probobly still at 6200 rpm's so if your shifting at 6000 that is way to soon. Shift at redline in every gear, and you will be fine. What kind of 60ft's are you pulling? You can always practice your shifting a little more too

Even though 6200 is the peak for power, your power at 6600 rpm is still higher than your power at 4 to 5 thousand as you shift to the next gear. Run them to redline.

SHIFT @ REDLINE!!! I use to run 12.1's @ 114 so with a 111 trap you should be capable of mid 12's with a decent launch and good shifts.... Also, if you power shift(holding the gas down when shifting) you should pick up a tenth or two.... Enjoy and good luck!

I went last week to the strip, and the best I could pull was a 13.022 @ 111mph. My 60' was horrible, no less than 2.1. I was getting horendous wheel hop, so I would let off a little at the start. I wanted to break into the 12's but had to stop early because my BOV was loose and letting out my boost. In the next couple weeks I will go back, and I am not leaving till I am in the 12's. The car definatley has 12's in it. And this was on the stock potenza re040's. Definatley shift at redline!!
