Default Couple of questions, boost gauge and clutch.

My Defi D boost gauge is not sitting at zero in the box (sitting at a few PSI boost), normal? I can't remember.

Also, what clutch will work well with my stock flywheel? I don't want my car to rev faster with FI. I was going to get RPS, but vendor says you have to buy a flywheel.

manual gauges rarely sit at zero from my exerience. I am running a stewart warner performance boost gauge and it sits at the first notch below zero. every sw gauge i have seen sat at the same spot.

There also might be a calibration on the back side of the guage to correct it.

I am looking at clutches and flywheels for my car as well. I was looking at JWT combo or an ACT clutch and UR flywheel.

My defi boost gauge(d gauge) sits right below zero. Not exactly at zero. And I am running a JWT clutch/flywheel combo and am very happy with it right now.

My gauge is sitting in the box, just want to know if it's broke before I waste my time hooking it up.

On a somewhat related note, on the Zeitronix (digital), I get up to 1.5psi of boost on a NA engine. Is it possible that the intake manifold (Crawford Plenum) get positive pressure under acceleration?

This is not uncommon. My Autometer EGT was sitting at 500 degrees in the box. As soon as I applied power it set itself to zero. As for clutch I'm looking to get a JWT clutch shortly.

Is the JWT clutch/flywheel setup rated for as much horsepower as you're running?

The JWT clutch and flywheel is built to hold the power that JWT is getting from their TT kit. Which according to the dyno sheet on their webpage is 420~

If you just want a clutch, no flywheel, I would use a simple, yet effective Clutchmaster stage III.

The gauge should sit pretty close to the line...but its mechanical, so its not going to be spot on. Mine sets a tad below the line.

Hmm.. the gauge I bought from someone you sold it to is sitting at about 5psi in the box... Guess I'll have to hook it up and see.

Thanks, I'll look into the CM clutch. Is there any good reason to use a flywheel with FI on a non-carbon setup?

If it sits at 5psi out of the box...someone is not right. Can you easliy hook up power and ground to it? Test it without going through too much trouble. They really should be sitting very close to 0psi....give or take 1psi.

I had one other customer with a defective boost gauge, so its not unheard of.

It's stuck at 1.75PSI. I hooked up and it's still the same. Guess I may have got ripped off. I can't check the EGT and Wideband yet, hopefully they work!

I know the person you bought them from...he bought them from me, and then sold them right away. I dont think he knew there was a problem, or else he would have contacted me first.

Anyways, I'll go ahead and help you out on the gauge...since you have bought things from me in the past.

The EGT was not purchased from me.....but that is electronic, so you should have no issues with it. The AEM was purchased from me, and I am sure that will be fine too. None of this was intensional...IMHO.

Hit me up on PM....
