Default About to start motor build ? on sleaves

SGP is going to start building my motor in a couple of weeks and im looking for about 550bhp to 650bhp max on a car thats going to be driving daily and have been thinking about getting the darton sleaves to help keep the motor together. IS anyone else using the darton sleaves yet?

Yes, I can't think of the guy's name right now. He owns a G35 though, let me do a search real quick and i'll edit this post.

The Darton sleeves should help your motor last longer at that power level.

I am in the exact same boat as you, sgp is starting mine some time next week, just waiting for some cores to come in. Before kyle starts the motor im wondering if I should drop the extra $$$$ and have the sleeves put in or not. I too am lookin for a daily driver with the ability to put down 650 when i feel like racing.

I know alot of guys have had problems w/ sleeved motors keeping head gaskets alive. It really hasn't been proven that sleeves are needed for higher hp VQ's. So far all sleeves seem to do is cause cooling issues and head gasket failures.

Like who? Can you give us some names of people with problems with Darton sleeved motors that are having problems? I know of several people who have had problems with AEBS sleeves but I have not heard of one problem with the Dartons. The Darton MID sleeves and the AEBS sleeves are two completely different animals.

Doesn't Performance Motorsports have the Darton MID Sleeves on their 1300 hp Pro Street 350Z?

I have been fortunate enough not to have issues with my AEBS sleeves... guess I got a good one... I have heard of a few AEBS blocks getting coolant in the oil! 4000 miles later I dont have any issues with that. I have had cooling system problems under extreme duty use, but they are the same problems some are having on stock blocks making less power. If I could go back, I would have got the Dartons... but they were not available. AEBS has a good rep with sleeves in other engines, so hopefully in the long run I wont run into any problems when I start runnign real boost.

I think performance motorsport is using darton liners, rather then their whole sleeve setup? i could be wrong.
