Is it normal when car is in idle and the vortech makes some sort of noise when its right under the line that comes before 1k rpm?

Another buddy of mine has same noise along with me?

Both Cars Running Awesome!!!

Thanks Guys

The Vortech S/C is not a noiseless puppy. It makes the typical whine of close tolerance bearings and gears that operate at about 7k rpm at idle and 45k rpm at 7k ENGINE rpm .It's hard to respond to your particular noise since we can't hear it however if your buddy has the same noise it probably is not out of the family of Vortech blowers..Maybe you could post a audio clip of it...

I hear a kinda "crickett-ty whurrrrrrrr" sound at idle....as opposed to a more definite higher pitched whine when it is spooling up during acceleration. I figured it was normal.

Is that the jist of what you're hearing????

yea some what, i figure its something with power because when im in idle/neutral and i lower window or w/e my rpms drop somewhat and makes the same noise, so i guess its something in the power field? i can be wrong so i dunno, but other than that car runs awesome.

Is this only when the stereo is on? Is it aftermaket? If so you may have a grounding problem causing some buzzing in your wiring.

Otherwise my best is it's just some normal FI-related sputters, grunts and groans.

Don't worry. That's completely normal. The jackshaft makes a snapping sound at low-idle revs that goes away with a slight increase in revs. Even though it sounds like something's wrong, it's OK.

My Vortech has been on for a couple of weeks now...and it RATTLES like crazy at idle!!

I have tried adjusting the belts....but to no avail.

The rattle comes from the main shaft that has the cogged pulley on it that goes into the gear housing on the unit.

It is almost like there is too much tolerance between the gears inside.....
