Default Vortech pulley question?

I know you guys have talked about it before, but I could not find it on the search.

What size allen wrench fits the main cog pulley in back of the snail?

How did you go about cutting it off to fit? (the wrench)

Thanks

Ive never taken that one off . No need to . Are you going to put on a custom [smaller] blower pulley ?

I've got a buddy that just installed his vortech and it looks like that pulley needs to be tightened. It has a slight wobble and is making a lot of noise when running.

I know I read sometime back that a few people had a problem with this pulley being loose. They were taking an allen wrench and cutting it off so it would fit between the bolt head and the fender well.

bump from the dead...

ive tried searching and nothing came up

What size allen is needed? I can't test fit one in that small area.

Reason is because mine came loose and almost fell off the shaft.

I'm pretty sure it's the same size as the top cog pulley bolt. I haven't taken off the blower cog pulley but i've taken the jackshaft cog pulley off.

If i remember correctly it is a 6mm allen. I had to use an impact gun to get the bolt out of mine because it was so tight. I'm going to be working on my belt routing today so i'll check that size to make sure.

do it properly and pull the charger. Its takes maybe 15 mins to do it. you'll want to fully remove that bolt and put some blue locktite on it as well.

Yeah, I read somewhere that I can drive it in NA safely by removing the the cog belt. I'm not going to be going very far, just to my boys shop so he can work on it for me. Thinking about upgrading to the 2.87 pulley as well. Had it sitting around for a couple months now.

Well, the other 2 pulleys were HEX bolts and only the pulley on the blower was the allen bolt. But 6mm sounds about right. Thanks

i checked. it's 6mm.

i have a g35 coupe. I'm not sure if 350z clearance is different but there is no possible way to get that pulley off with the blower in the car. There is only about 3/4" between the shaft of the pulley and the fenderwell. If you get the bolt out there still isn't enough room to pull the pulley off the shaft.
