I really cant wait for the utec to fully come out, there will be ALOT of unichips forsale. Like the old wrx days all over again.

I have already comented on the lean out in the dyno graph from the original poster that is very lean right at peak Tq, not to mention spool up is pretty lean. Power is probally being left on the table at these AFR's. Keep in mind the dynojet has a bit of a delay from actual rpm to what the wideband reads so the afr is actually happening a bit sooner, but it is stll lean at pk tq. Also the Dj wideband is usually off a bit, but not enough to explain that.

My car and LouZer's car were dyno'd at the same place, our tuner does not go by the dyno's AFR. I should of just put the dyno graph up without it. For the record "THE AFR IS NOT CORRECT". They use a FJO or something that monitors the AFR at a different point.

I understand as we always have the incar wideband also. The thing is the dyno wideband is not off 2 full points, and if it is what is the point of using it at all?

What are you using for knock detection?

Nothing other than the Unichip. No external devices other than my EGT.

With a unichip i would get some sort of knock detection. A knock link, or txs knock light would fit the bill. At least if you are knocking you can pull out of the throttle. Lots of people learned this the hard way in the old school days of using the unichip. Again, you guys are in for a treat when the Utec is fully up and running

Cronic,
I've spoken to the G.M. of Unichip North America at length and was told the Unichip has many, many functions beyond what APS is using. We all know they're going to be using it to run a second set of injectors in their high-horsepower application. My only complaint is that there's not an authorized Unichip dealer in my entire State.

Once you install a standalone system, how are the Department of Environmental Quality or C.A.R.B. testers going to treat you? Will the Utec replace the factory ECU?

Believe me we used to run unichips 5 years ago, when that was all there was.

The utec is a piggyback, well sort of. When TXS adds open loop fueling into the firmware(as it is for evos, and wrx/sti's) it acts as a standalone. While the Unichip offsets ecu timing, and maf signal, the UTEC when over the user definable crossover is in TOTAL control. It does not rely on the ecu. It will have injector scaling, rev limit control, launch control, Check engine light will flash when knock is encountered, etc. It has lots of functionality.

Back in the day all the tuners sold the unichip there was nothing else, as soon as any better solution came out the unichip was GONE, you could not sell a unichip for 50 bucks anymore.

It is ok for now, but when you guys get a taste of something better you will se unichips for sale like hotcakes. All i am saying is for the unichip, i would have some form of knock detection. Knock is what kills these motos.
