Default AAM Fuel Return Install Query

Is install for AAM fuel return and walbro 255 a relatively easy DIY job (scale of 1 to 10). Hours to do?

Also, Vortech S/C so auxiliary pump is ditched or no?

If you plan to run a full return fuel system, then I would ditch the AUX pump and FMU, and run something like an Emanage to tune the car. Most of the Vortech guys that run return fuel systems usually install larger injectors, and the EU, and tune the car accordingly. It' s a much more robust setup that the SS box and FMU/Aux pump

It can be done in 2-3 hours if you are familiar with your engine bay and working on cars and dealing with AN lines/fittings. Otherwise it could take you an entire day or two. Definatly not really required to have a shop do the install unless you dont have good tools.

If you take out the aux pump, your car will be extremely lean and out of tune until you change your entire engine management strategy.

Phunk..I think he was going to do the in tank Walbro pump too . If he upgrade injectors also , he would be fine..A retune would be in order though. I have the return system, in tank walbro , 550 injectors and the SS box is doing a pretty good job

ah yes forgot he had the SS box. I agree, if he just installs injectors like you did with an upgraded pump and does an IMMEDIATE re tune, he should be all good.

One further question if I keep with the SS box. In the output mode, the settings were something like:
OUTPUT SETTINGS
PWM MODE - PRESSURE 0 to 30 PSI /5 VDC FS
OUTPUT A MODE - AUX FUEL PUMP WITH ABORTIVE START TIME
OUTPUT B MODE - OVER RPM AND PRESSURE
OUTPUT C MODE - INC A AND B OVER / LATCHED
OVER RPM - 300
OVER PRESSURE - 2.5
OVER INJ % - 0
FUEL PUMP START PRESSURE PSI - 0
FUEL PUMP RUN TIME - 0
FUEL PUMP STARTUP TIME - 0

Are the over pressure and over rpm values ignored when you ditch the FPR and Aux Fuel Pump or are different setting required

Nano - check out Booger's post above for at least one going bigger than 440s

You will not have to change any thing in your settings at all . The aux pump and FMU will not be there to respond to the signals to start the pump
