I did a leakdown test the other day and the motor is blown. When they put the spark plugs back in after the test they cleaned all the oil off them and the car does not run like chit any more. I guess all the oil in the spark plug chamber was causing that side to misfire.

My problem is most likely the driver's side piston ringlands. I have hired a shipping company to ship the car to SGP. They are picking it on somewhere around the 19th and it should be at SGP by the end of the month..

Hey GMAN2004, haven't been on the forums that long but have read some very informative posts by you in regards to F/I. Very helpful in my endevour to boost the Z next year.. With that said I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune and trust me, I know how the ole' lady's can get when it comes to spending $$$$ on cars. My Supra really tested my marriage at times .

Anyway, I read now that you have confirmed bad ringlands..You don't mention much about poor tuning so I can assume that detonantion wasn't much to blame here. Although, I did notice from your mods list that your pistons have been ceramic coated. I was doing a little research about coating pistons, chambers and such & ran across something interesting.

As you know the purpose of the coating is to reflect heat back into the combustion chamber thus reflecting it back into the exhaust to help with turbo performance. Apparently, this can cause the top rings to run hotter so the ring end gaps have to be increased. If not the ring ends butt and lock tight in the cylinder causing the top ring land to break. Of course the broken piece(s) can cause further engine damage.

Either way I'd be very interested to hear the final outcome. Good luck bro...

Sorry about your loss. I understand the pressure a wife can bring to bear, I thought your idea of buying a beater to use when the "G" is down is a very sound idea. The pressure will be off her, and your homelife will improve. Good luck in the future whichever way you go, that is one bad G.

Jorge, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Find a "nice beater" like a 2000 Ford Explorer and maybe you will get in your wife's good graces and feel better about the situation. Best of luck reguardless.
