Default look at this crap in my IC!

this is what i found in my IC today. lots of oil. i sprayed degreaser in it and let it sit for a while then washed it out with a lot of water. im gonna crank it tomorrow without the intake pipe connected and blow the rest out.

Wouldn't that oil eat away at the core?

I think an oil catch can would stop that accumilation of oil. I believe the oil breather system recirculates through the intake causing that.

thats a nasty looking intercooler, "sir, i hate to bring bad news, but your intercooler is not a virgin anymore.".... You should check all the pipes, i bet theres oil everywhere. If there is and you put the intercoolr back in, its just gonna blow more sh*t

Its normal blowthrough accumulation.. Dont worry about it.

Yeah, that's not that bad, get a catch can and clean out the IC with gas.

i cleaned the entire system then filled the intercooler with degreaser and sprayed it out. there was also oil all over the maf. thats what that last pic is, the watered down oil.

Get an oil catch can. That oil is going back into your combustion chamber and can lower the effective octane rating of your fuel when its mixxed with the oily air. It can also mess up your MAF causing you to clean it alot. How many miles have you been on FI? When the oil catch can is back in, keep an eye on the oil accumulating. Its a sign on how your piston rings are doing.

well with this single turbo i have about 5000 miles on it, i think its the turbo becoming flooded with oil and leaking thru the seals causing the oil to blow to the intercooler.

Yeah, that's how I learned how much fun cleaning an IC can be, from my DSM.

I got a catch can from roadraceengineering.com that fixed the prob.

This happens to DSM guys because their crank case ventilates back into the intake between the MAF and turbo inlet.

The oil is comming from your PCV. When your pistons are moving up and down, the crank case will displace a different amount of air at any given time. With FI, a bit of blow by caused by the higher pressure in the combustion chamber will also increase the pressure of the crank case. This is even more so when flooring the car at 6000 rpms and more boost. I dont think your turbo seals are the cause of this unless you are getting smoke out of your exhaust when you let off the throttle after flooring it. The oil you are seeing is normal of every FI VQ35DE out there and probably most factory FI motors. Just get a catch can so you get a cleaner burn and less detonation.

This is coming from the Turbo, not the PCV system.

I thought you got the turbo checked out and it looked ok? It must not be draining out w/ the sump pump... What a bummer..

the sump is adjustable, im gonna try to turn it up to see what happens, i emailed APS about getting them to replace it, but guess what, no reply. i never got the turbo looked at because i found some problems that i corrected and wanted to see if that solved it first.
