Default FI gas mileage

I was going to drop this argument b/c I am sick of it but I got two more pm's while I was at work today with people explaining to me how a turbo system removes the cats and that turbos are very efficient.

The argument is does a turbo increase your highway gas mileage. My stance is that obviously a 240ish whp Z gets better gas mileage than a 360-390whp Z. The people who argue against me claim their computers on the Z show they are getting higher gas mileage (as much as 20% better than NA) and since they have removed their cats and can cruise at 70mph at a lower rpm (than NA) they get better mileage on the highway.

I argue back saying the computer on the Z is designed for stock fuel injectors and once you swap them out you can't count on the readings it gives out. I also argue if these kits are really giving as high as 20% increases in your highway mileage why not advertise that as an advantage of the kit?

So people who know more than me; whats the right answer... should every environmentalist be driving around in a turbo'ed Z to save gas or is this just a glitch in the Z's computer when you swap out the injectors.

I wouldn't mind hearing from any reps out there (MIAPLAYA) to put an end to this debate. I have my hat here ready to eat if it turns out I am just ignorant and don't know what I am talking about... God knows I have been wrong before.

Im getting better gas mileage now that i removed my cats and had my motor built. Thats only when i stay out of boost though. Lower compression motor should result in better gas mileage. I mean the difference isnt huge but a little bit better. And all of this isnt by reading my trip computer, ditched for defi gauges. This is all by me seeing how many miles i get on a tank of gas.

my digital readout averages 16mpg, about same as before i installed the hks sc. however, i was always in upper rpms before the install, and now i try to stay lower to conserve gas. i used to use 6th gear very rarely. now i'm in it whenever possible.
as to the gauge's accuracy based on the change in injectors, i have no idea. good question.

i thought high compression = better gas mileage cause the engine is more efficient?

The computer's mileage is way off - just like you said it's the new injectors. I've tested it several times and it's usually about 5 mpg too high.

They do get better mileage when cruising on the freeway.

Under boost and city driving, Hellls no. But on the freeway i average 30 or better.

The computer is Drunk. Because it uses calculations to generate that and since we changed the Fuel pump, lines, and injectors, it can't calculate correctly.
