Red face clutch question

It finally happened. My clutch started slipping this afternoon. So now its time to replace it. I enjoy the occasional street race, and am interested in faster 1/4 times. Currently I have the Turbonetics ST kit, with a Kinetix V4 plenum, MD isothermal gaskets, MD TB heater, and KJR crank pulley. My car is a daily driver, so I dont want anything too cumbersome. Any suggestions? I need to order pretty quick, I dont know how much longer I have on this clutch.

(also, since the tranny will be down, I'm also considering a LSD. Feel free to recommend one as well.)

Thanks in advance

-Blaise

Well the JWT clutch and flywheel has been great for a couple buddies here in SD, 12NV in Florida has the Turbonetics kit with clutch and flywheel and is happy with it. Ditto for 35ounces. Its also a pretty resonable setup. I think its like in the 7xx range for both from Mossy

cool. I just want to make sure that by the time I get it installed, it will be able to hold the power I'll be running threw it for a while. What about an LSD?...any suggestions for a base that cant put his power down evenly?

I have the Nismo diff personally. I also had a base model Z. I will say the Nismo diff works pretty damn well. The first 1500 miles of break in you are going to HATE it though. Its loud, its obnoxious, its real jerky and snaps a lot. But after 1500 miles and switching to Redline 75W-90 its been great. Fairly quiet. Works like a charm that I can tell you for sure. Plus it includes the stub axels and everything you need to swap it out. For under $900 its a great deal.

If you plan on getting a flywheel too, I would suggest the JWT flywheel so you can use a 300ZX TT clutch. RPS sells two, a street disc and puck disc (550 and 700 flywheel torque respectively). I have the puck disc and love it, even though it is quite stiff and grabby. The street disc i hear is great though.

Another vote for the JWT clutch and flywheel. I have that combo, and I love it!

JWT or the RPS clutch/flywheel setup. The RPS 6 puck is going to be the sturdier of the two, and holds roughly 626ft/lbs, but its about $200 more than the JWT.

We sell them both.

I think I'm going to go with the JWT setup. Thanks a TON guys.

By the way...Sharif, when are you going to take your show on the road? I'm in New Orleans and dont have anyone around here who is willing/able to tune my Z. Let me know if your ever going to be in the area, and I'll get some dyno time.

Midnyte,

Just to throw in my .02. I have the ATS twin disc clutch w/flywheel. Works like a charm, but a bit chatty. the first 1000 miles took some time to wear and get used to the grabbiness of the clutch. But now, I love it.

If you change the diff let me us know what you think. I am looking at changing mine too for a clutch type to better handle the power I am going to be throwing at it.

Peace

Blaise, LOL....I am always on the road! But seriously, I do travel for tuning if you need help with your car. It's usually on Fri-Sun, as its the only time I can get away from the normal business. PM me for details.

PM me on that clutch too...I'll help you out.
