Anyone ever try to do a Water Injection set-up on a FI'ed Z yet?
There is a very interresting article on water injection in Sport Z pgs 56-59.
I guess you can just use windshield washer fluid. I just can't imagine spraying that stuff into your intake!
I guess it helps lower turbo lag as well.

intresting... I know I am planing on water/achocol injection when the U-tec comes with the program.. but I was worried about that also... water into my turbo or intake??? Any body know a soloution for the TN setup cause our intake is above the intercooler.

). I plan on having John run some multiple dynos to show the differences ( if any ) between the Crawford & SSV as well as the WI on & off.
I'll have him post the results as he gets them.
WI lowers the EGT of the engine letting you to tune your car more aggressively. It doesnt give any HP and it will probably lower your HP if you install it w/o a tune.
MI does the same job more effectively but it also increases the octane rating of the fuel. The handicap is, methanol is very flamable and needs ultimate care while using.

I have been doing a lot of research on WI. It was first discovered at the beginning of last century, and applied on planes in WWII. The research at that time concluded that a 50/50 mixture of methanol and water was the most optimal, as the methanol prevented the water from freezing, help disperse the water into the air, and added some additional cooling and acted as a fuel also.
The recommended installation is before the turbo if there is no intercooler, and after the turbo if there is an intercooler. This gives you the max cooling effect of the air, the only problem is, if you have a mass air meter, you can not do this (like the Z). So you must inject the water/methanol mixture after the mass air meter.
The benifits of cooling the air are off-set by adding a non-compressable fluid to the air intake. Therefore, if you just add it onto a FI Z, you will see no HP gain (most likely it will go down). The reason, just as in WWII, is so you can safely boost to a higher psi. The water/methanol acts like octane, and supresses auto-ignition, thus you can boost to a higher pressure (I believe people have gone up to 15psi on a stock Z engine). You can also have your A/F mixture tuned to a leaner mixture and this can also improve HP.
There are risks to using a WI system. The main one is that you run out of Water/Methanol and don't know it! And if you are boosting pretty high without WI, you risk doing some major damage to your engine. That is why a lot of people choose to use the windshield wiper fluid, since it already has an alarm if the fluid gets low.
Hope this helps.

when someone makes a Z specific meth kit, and proves it works (cuz I know it will) they will make tons of money......the Lancer EVO world changed overnight when alky injection was introduced

Many of the guys on this forum use FI w/ WI for their Z and it works. Do you have more info?
Thanks

lol... I've been driving the car is 636 rwhp... I took the car back at the shop for some weight reduction to my engine parts, headwork, 8,000rpm redline and five more pounds of boost... should be at least 700rwhp when i get it back this week... Ill will post the dyno and my story...
