Default Procharger dyno results

Mods:
SGP Racing built engine w/ stock valvetrain
8.5.1 CP pistons
Pauter rods
Procharger with really big pulleys (whiny, but sounds like a jet at high rpm)
Emanage Ultimate
750cc injectors
Borla headers, Helix test pipes, apexi exaust (loud)
NOS 50 shot wet
Stillen oil cooler
Tuned by Mark Gust at SGP racing

I live in Kansas where Prochargers are made. I've grown up watching these crazy mustangs with big old huge prochargers making insane amounts of power, especially torque. I'm not taking anything away from turbo becaue they are sweet. I love my 93 RX7 single apexi turbo, but in some ways I prefer more of the all motor feel of driving. This Z with the procharger feels like driving a big V8 because the procharger is making boost at just idle. Prochargers and Vortecs alike both totally suck in stock boost configuration. My impeller speed on this C2 unit is at about 90,000 rmps. When you get a normale pulley configuration with both procharger and vortec the impeller speed is only spinning around 40-60,000 and that's why they are not that imperssive. When your driving in third all you have to do is stomp the gas and you make the tires break loose, no need to dump the cluth at all. I'm not sure how long my bearings will last on the blower but ATI makes superchargers very, very reliable. And I'm talking about the procharger internals., very tough. If you notice the chart you'll see where my clutch starts to give out. If the clutch would have graped I think we would have seen 550-575 rwhp near 7K rpm because it's been reflashed to 7200 We were already at 500rwhp at just 5700 engine rpm and boost just built strong till redline where as many turbo's loose steam at or near redline.

On a side note I have to give major props to Mark at SGPhttp://www.sgpracing.com We had a few issues with my blower and some parts so the car ended up needing to be retuned. Mark flew up here on got everything squared away for me. Not many tuners would go to that lengh to make sure the customer is happy and that the job was done right.

Very nice results. I think these are the highest numbers I have seen with the Procharger. Definately has the potential for 500whp+ with a new clutch...you were making power all the way until the clutch started slipping.

Thanks Sharif, what type of clutch do you think would work best?

I hope this thread gives hope and new insight to anyone going the supercharged route because in just a normal street race and instant torque and HP kick right in. The only major disadvantage is that if you really go crazy and put huge boost pulleys on you loose the daily driveability because it's just got too much torque where as you could have a 700rwhp+ turbo charger and have perfect daily driveability. Overall turbo's are still cooler but this set up is not bad either.

For built motor/high whp applications, I would suggest the ATS twin disc with 1350kg pressure plate: Link here: http://www.forgedinternals.com/store...cat=261&page=1

You can pick 1100kg pressure, or 1350kg pressure (my recommendation), at no additional cost. This will likely be the last clutch/flywheel you ever purchase.

Here is a pic of my wife and I, we used our Z for a promo pic for some oil company. This girl really knows how to drive too, she hates automatics. The wheels have been changed to Maya Maido 19's. Other than that everything is the same

13psi w/o nitrous. And with a 50 shot the guage jumps to 15psi.

Default Cost

What is the cost of parts and labor for the mods you have listed? Can you give just a ballpark figure?

I'll get some new pix with the Maya wheels up some time this week, it's the only pic I had that didn't look like crap.

With the procharger, engine rebuild, Emange, fuel system, exaust, tuning I would say between 18-22K. I bought the car for 24K and figure now it's actually a pretty good performance bang for the buck because Vette's are costing around 40-50K and I blow them away all day long so overall I'm happy with the outcome. I'm just going to keep pushing up the boost on the Procharger to see how high the HP can go. The only thing I regret is that I didn't get a upgraded valve train. But the stock valvetrain can handle around 550 rwhp before it can't breath so I'm good for now.
