Subtle noise at around 5900 rpms. It doesn't appear to be knock nor detonation, according to my mechanic. He believes that it may be clutch chatter. I have the JWT flywheel as well as the JWT clutch, has anyone else encountered such a problem? The afr's are dead on, and thankfully with the addition of an exhaust, motordyne spacer, and new spark plugs, it has settled back down to 8 psi, dead on, pulls like a monster, but does make a very faint "clicking" sound and appears to be coming from the downpipe and could not be duplicated on the lift. Any ideas?
try holding the shifter firmly, and see if the noise goes away.. I got similar problem but do not know what is causing it, but the noise goes away if I hold the shifter
Clutch chatter usually occurs at much lower RPM. I would be very leary of any engine noises you hear at higher RPM at WOT. Slight detonation can sound like a bad tranny, or drivetrain rattle. Oftentimes, its detonation. Even with perfect AF ratios, engines can easily start knocking, so definately be careful.
The only thing you should hear at WOT is the strong roar of your engine/exhuast.

Well put, I will go easy on the car until I can get it tuned. Also if it were detonation would always happen or just every now and then? The tranny has less than 3000 miles on it and doesn't sound like it did before the replacement. The noise isn't consistent at all, and correct me or better yet educate me on detonation, my understanding is that when detonation occurs, the ecu will retard timing causing a decrease in hp, my car pulls hard with no hesitation, and I have only romped on the car once since hearing the noise and that was because I had a mechanic in the car. Please elaborate on driving the car until I get it tuned. Thanks Sharif, once again a great help.
Waiting on overboost kit to ship to me. Hopefully will lower my boost from 9-10psi to 8-8.5. Should make my A/F better and hopefully stop the occasionaly detonating. And on top of that Im doing a UTEC/injectors/fuel system...

When the stock ECU retards timing, you may not feel a sudden loss in power. To confirm the noise is detonation, fill your tank up with 100 octane fuel, and make some WOT pulls. If the noise is not present, then it was likely some mild detonation. If you are experiencing mild detonation, the best solution is to retune the car with a UTEC, at the minimum. Or better yet, add a return fuel system, and slighly larger injectors, along with the UTEC to tune it.
