If you do not have a lot of $$ to burn, then Greddy with 20G turbo upgrade

If you have a lot of $$ to burn, then Speed Force Racing TT

If you have a pile on $$ burning a hole in your pocket, then Injected Performance single turbo

Either way you go, you will have to build up your motor if you want to have any chance against Mustangs and Supras...

You should talk to mrtomcat about drag racing. He's one of our APS TT customers and he's been laying down some pretty impressive times. I'm sure he wouldn't mind chatting with you.

If your serious about dragging it, and still want a stock feel around the street, then you best bet would probably be a very large single turbo. This way you'll get loads of lag at the launch, which will help your traction, which the Z has issues with, but once your rolling you'll loads of boost and big power. It also means that whilst your cruising the streets at low RPM you wont get much boost, but when you gun it, you will definitely feel it. It will be a bit rough on the streets, as the boost will kick in hard.
If your looking more at daily driven with plenty of power straight of the mark, and the ocassional trip to the strip, then any of the TT, or ST setups offered are good. They all seem to be reliable kits, and are well behaved for the street. TT's will be a bit more expensive.

I dunno. I'd have to say greddy TT since the larger turbos have more power potential. We also haven't really seen how some of the ST setups perform with built motor and larger turbo. I wouldn't rule them out just yet. I guess it really depends on what your goals are.

You need drag radials of 325 and wheels 11.5" before you even put any of these kits to use for drag racing... but best kit for that would probably be the SFR one since you can custom build that kit to 1000 hp supposedly (not for the poor though that's for sure).

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this:

do you want a DRAG z or a DAILY DRIVER with high hp?

That's two actually very DIFFERENT setups. A drag Z could mean the biggest nastiest high hp turbo, making squat for power down low but massive amounts up top and basically not streetable......................where a high hp daily driver could be a 700hp TT car with a good solid powerband and relatively little lag....but by no means a drag style car.

If you don't have at least 20k to spend on something like this, though, you're wasting everyone's time with this thread.

The fastest time I have seen was this guy. He has a Greddy TT. I think he even got a 10.9 soon after he posted this thread.

I am not saying the Greddy is the best. Any of the TT kits should be good for drag/daily driver as long as you get a good installer/tuner and add supporting mods if the kit is not complete out of the box. Reseach the kits and make your own decision. Most people will say the kit they have is the best.

When I'm finshed (a long time from now) I'd like to be way up there in the 600 hp range, but for now maybe just b/w 300 and 350 to the rear wheels. I know rims and tires are important too. I'm looking at the enkei rpf1 17x10r and 17x9f. I would probably put a 285 or 295 in the back and a 255 or 265 in the front. I still have to figure out offsets though. As far as the turbos go, I want to DRIVE to the strip, get 12's and then be able to DRIVE home comfortably. I want a "race" car persay. I want a daily driver that can hold its own on the strip. For now, until I can afford to put more money into it.

PETT.................Performance Motorsport made so really good records with the Power Enterprise kits....they were one of the first to drag the z....the Turbo Netics is becoming pretty popular in the drag worl as a whole

If you're looking for 12s and still streetable.... just go with one of the ST kits. They're cost effective, they'll get to your time slip goals, fairly easy installs, and may not have the power potential (as of right now at least) you're looking for but will be more than enough for now.

Just a thought.

thanks Christian.

I would definetely say APS TT

but there are lots of other factors involved

Mine is a great daily driver, I just change to ET Street's at the track and it's a great Drag car...

You've seen the turbos with the PETT kit, right? While they'd be perfect for road racing or autocross, they are far from ideal for high hp drag racing. I'd be surprised to see someone make over 550whp with them.
