Default Greddy t/t....probably stupid post, sorry

ok i know im probably gonna get flamed hard, but i had just bought my Z about 2 weeks ago. I came from a Built and Boosted civic, n i cant live without at least a light amount of boost. So anyways, i was just wondering how safe it is to run the Greddy T/T kit w/out any aftermarket internals at the set boost out of box.
Someone please shed some light on my situation. Thanks.

Check out the Forced Induction section under tech. Search for greddy and you will find a lot of info about that kit (pros and cons).

I have read in the FI forum, that at stock boost which is 5.5 (I believe)...and also keeping HP under 400, your stock motor will be ok. If I am wrong, then someone please correct me.

that depends how you drive it... i mean if ur constantly topping it out... and of course it will shorten the life of ur engine, but you can do regular check-ups and NOT abuse it and you should be fine. honestly after i got my turbo, i dont find myself hittin the redline as often as i use to.

My vote goes for the APS ST or TN ST. Best bang for the buck if you want to boost and have to have a wastegate while doing it.

PS - Believe me I am not biased. I have the Greddy TT, lol.

for the money you hve to spend on extra parts plus the cooler and kit, id ay go with the APS ST or the Turbonetics ST........if you dont plan on boosting for high hp or a responsive track car dont waste the cash on a TT unless you just want it

The Greddy kit is a safe kit, I would recommend getting a custom tune done after you have the kit installed and going with cooler plugs, but the kit is well put together and makes great power.

You just do some research and see what are the supporting mod needed for the greddy and then you can see what power level your going to go for with stock internals.

With a good tune and the ignition harness you can run 5.6 psi all day, every day. You can probably run 8 or 9 psi and daily drive it, but it is all about your tune. You live in Illinois, call Charles at CJ Motorsports in Chicago. His name on the board is phunk. One of the best 350 tuners out there.

+1 for phunk. He did my car and I am very happy with the results. You should join up over at chicagoz.com, our local club.

Well, I think the Greddy kit is fine on a stock engine IF you are running out of the box boost AND you have properly tuned the engine. But there are a lot of guys out here from the tuning shops that can give you more information. I seriously recommend calling a few of the shops and talking with them before investing $4 k+ in a kit and risking your engine.

+1 on getting the colder plugs. Other then that, I think if you do not push it too much you should be fine.

I am still running on stock internals, (after 5k miles and 9 months) but I have a lot of other stuff put on to manage cooling, air/fuel and boost levels.

I think most will agree that every kit is only as safe as the tune/install. Talk to a few shops that you trust and have worked on 350z's. If the shop I trusted most had a lot of exp installing and tuning X-kit I wouldn't buy Y-kit b/c people on the forum say its safer.
