Default Why isnt vortech safe at 10 psi

I understand that on a high compression motor too much boost is too much heat, but heres what I dont understand:

I used to have a Maxima (vq30de) 3.0Liter version of the 350z motor.
I ran 10-11psi with no intercooler, no tuning, and just a FMU. Car ran fine, as did everyone else that ran 10-11psi. So how can we only run 8 psi safely, while the maxima can run 11psi. Compression ratio is nearly identical on both motors.
Also, is there anyway we can lower compression with a head gasket, so we can run the 2.87 pulley safely?

There are members that have been running 15 psi via twin turbos on the stock block. Some single turbo owners are having their boost levels creep up to 10 psi. Just curious, how many miles did you drive at 11 psi with no tune?

if its a different model blower there is a difference in the actual CFM's at different boost levels. 10psi on a mitsu 14g is not nearly the same as 10psi on a mitsu 18g.

that may explain some of what you are noticing.

All I know is that I had the V1 trim, while most maximas now are running the V2 trim, not sure if the blower is smaller but I doubt it.

I ran at 10-11 psi for 50,000 miles before I sold the car.

Also, FYI
It isnt uncommon for the maxima guys to run 400whp stock block, some are running 500whp I believe

Yes, this man is correct....

PSI is an abritrary number that can confuse a lot of people. Its the volume of air that the unit produces, not the PSI amount. Thats why you see the TN kit putting out close to 10psi while the JWT kit produces about 7psi; and the JWT kit making about 30-50 more HP depending on the additional mods.

Its like comparing apples and oranges...

Thanks,
Nick

Not sure but the housing doesnt look the same as the blower thats on the V2-SC trim blower that come with the Z & G kit . And besides that , if it was the same housing . Different blades can be put in to run more boost and CFM . Ive upgrade my V2-SC to a T-trim blower and it is the same size housing , but with bigger blades and a bigger inlet . Some thing else that you have to take into concideration . Guys are claiming any where from 320 to 425whp on the stock kit . And thats the effect of different dynoes and dyno operators , But basicly are running all about the same . The AT5 will run 15whp less and mods added may contribute for an added 10 to 20 hp also
