Why isnt vortech safe at 10 psi
I understand that on a high compression motor too much boost is too much heat, but heres what I dont understand:
I used to have a Maxima (vq30de) 3.0Liter version of the 350z motor.
I ran 10-11psi with no intercooler, no tuning, and just a FMU. Car ran fine, as did everyone else that ran 10-11psi. So how can we only run 8 psi safely, while the maxima can run 11psi. Compression ratio is nearly identical on both motors.
Also, is there anyway we can lower compression with a head gasket, so we can run the 2.87 pulley safely?

There are members that have been running 15 psi via twin turbos on the stock block. Some single turbo owners are having their boost levels creep up to 10 psi. Just curious, how many miles did you drive at 11 psi with no tune?

It isnt uncommon for the maxima guys to run 400whp stock block, some are running 500whp I believe

PSI is an abritrary number that can confuse a lot of people. Its the volume of air that the unit produces, not the PSI amount. Thats why you see the TN kit putting out close to 10psi while the JWT kit produces about 7psi; and the JWT kit making about 30-50 more HP depending on the additional mods.
Its like comparing apples and oranges...
