Default Boosting in 6th?

When i first put my kit in, the car ran the same in every gear, after a tune/UTEC, if i boost in 6th it gets FATTT. By fat i mean 8 on the AF, and runs very On/Off for about 10-20 seconds until it leans back out. Is that normal? Sharif told me boosting in 6th wasn't a good diea, but it never acted up before. The reason it's an issue for me is i do a lot of interstate driving (300 miles a week), and i usually end up in boost passing cars.

I realized that too after I got my greddy TT installed. 6th gear feels sluggish for a bit and then leans out......but it used to just be lean and take off before the TT install.......is it really normal?
I didn't think it was....

Mine was normal with the reflash from TN, now after the UTEC/Tune it just gets really really really fat after i boost. If i give thottle with it that fat, it doesnt respond like it should I have to press the throttle kinda far then it comes on all at once like a surge.

Usually Ive noticed cars in 6th gear run slightly richer than say in 5th. You def should not beso lean and be dropping from the 11's A/F to the 8's. Id like for Sharif to chime in on why your car does that, and why you shouldnt boost in 6th Ive never heard that. I dont see anything wrong with that unless your realy lugging the motos at very low rpm's and putting load on it and trying to bost, in that case downshift a gear or two...

If you are familiar with tuning, this will make much more sense...as you boost in a higher gear, there is a greater load resisting the pull forward...this can shift the portion of the map that you are currently operating in...usually, even if you were in a lower line in the map, in a group of different cells, it wouldn't richen up that drastically...unless the cells are dramatically different compared to the cells that you drive in when boosting in the other gears...does it stay rich in 6th..or just early in the gear/late in the gear...or the entire time?
I never even boosted in 5th until I had a true dual 3" exhaust made...I was so paranoid during the melting piston era (it's like a timeline of vq35 evolutionary understanding)...Now, I can boost all the way through 5th gear, into 6th...another thing to be weary about when boosting in such a high gear- monitor your coolant temps (not with the factory gauge)- through an aftermarket, more sensitive coolant temp gauge, or through emanage ultimate..this will give you an idea how hot things are getting..heat is the enemy!

350zDKalb summed it up nicely. I didnt tell Jason that he shouldnt boost in 6th gear. I advised him not to boost in very low RPM in 6th. Flooring the accerator in 6th gear at 2500rpm, for instance, puts a tremendous amount of load on the engine, and you will generate a lot of cylinder pressure at very low RPM. This is not good for the health of an engine.

If we had one more day to tune with the car, I could have worked out the 6th gear WOT richness, but it really is something that everyone should avoid. Lugging the engine with high load and boost at low RPM is a dangerous practice. I would prefer that the customer downshift into 5th gear when passing, to put the engine above 3000rpm or so.

Are you planning to attend ZDAYZ;s. I would be happy to adjust it for you, since I know you live about 10 hours from Charlotte.
