Default Intercooler Sprayer with F/I??

I currently have the Vortech SC with the 3.12 pulley and several other bolt-ons. See them in my Car Domain page. I like to run at the dragstrip quite frequently and the problem that I have is that on warm days, my times get slower and slower with each passing run. I was thinking about getting an NX intercooler sprayer to maybe help with this as well as for osmetics. I like the look of the sprayer! I do have a 5AT tranny and am still on all stock internals. My thoughts on how I would use this setup would be to spray the intercooler at the line or on the way to the line and NOT while the car is actually running up the track. I am not really a fan of using nitrous. However, I kow that if I am running a quick car and I want to beat him, I may find myself wanting to spray while driving the car which I know will suck it up in the intake. A friend of mine has a sprayer he is no longer using and is going to sell it to me for around $150 including a 5 lb bottle. He ran this with his HKS SC and gained about 35-40RWHP when he sprayed on the dyno. How safe would it be to run this setup and possibly spray on stock internals while moving? I dont think it does, but does the Split Second box that comes with the Vortech SC allow you to run multiple maps? I was thinking I could run one map for no nitrous and one for spraying with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Zach

No ....the SS box only can store one map . The only way to find out what would happen if you sprayed during a run at the track , would be to spray on a dyno and see what your A/F would be . I wouldnt know if you would have to pull more timing or not .

Thats what I was thinking about the SS box. I thought it would only do 1 map.

I'm probably going to get a co2 sprayer as soon as I see someone else's resuls with it. The air filter is in close proximity with the intercooler on my setup, so I don't want to risk ingesting n2o into the intake. You shouldn't really need to spray during the run, only when you're staging. Co2 is less expensive and more safe than N2O. If you injest some into the intake it might just bog the car a little, not blow it up. You also shouldn't need to retune for it, imo.

I have seen a Co2 system but it is a lot mor eexpensive for the kits, from what I have seen. Like I said, I can get a used NX N2O kit for $150 with the bottle as well. I am just wondering if I do spray during a run and do ingest N2O if it will hurt the motor. As Booger said, I would just have to do it and see what happens.

I've been told by a few shops not to spray n2o. If it by any chance gets in the intake, it can give 40-50 hp spikes and that can lean out the car a lot, and can potentially damage your internals after some use. I was told to just spray water. It wouldn't cool as much as n2o would, but it would be much safer.

Obviously I'm a fan of nitrous sprayers - plug me for "Yes - good to go"

Have you considered a water/meth injection kit instead?

Not really. I have kinda looked at it, but not extensively. I do not really know anything about this route.

I am considering getting a kit. You can run water all the time to keep your temps down and be safe and then run water/meth at the track for more boost.

The kits are only a few hundred bucks.

I'm using the CryO2 system, spraying the intercooler, cooling air on 3 other places (with cooling bubbles in the air intake) and cooling fuel. No way to test the HP on the dyno. Engine sucks in CO2 and really bogs down. If that would have been N2O...

I'll be trying it on the dragstrip next Saturday. Will run with and without. Let's see that ET does... I also have a GTECH, that should tell me the gain in HP if any...

I was looking at the full kit . But I thought that ball that goes in the intake , might slow down the air flow to much . Dont know

The ***** are perfect drop-shapes, very aerodynamic. Didn't have any influence on my boost, so I don't think it affects air flow too much...
