Default Maximum Boost -- Best Book Ever

I was at Banes & Noble last night looking through the car section... I saw a book called "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell and started flipping through it. It looked good so I got a cup of coffee and started reading. Three hours later -- seemed like three minutes, the store was closing so I bought the book ($35 ). It was worth every penny. I read it cover to cover last night and it is one of the most impressive suveys of the issues involved with turbocharging a car that I have ever read. It was published in 1997 so some of the stuff is not totally up to date (ball bearing TC's were described as the TC of the future), but 99% of it is still very true. Corky Bell also has a gift for explaining some very complex issues in simple terms without dumbing the material down.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about turbocharging their Z.

Not to be a "fan boy" or anything, but it also made me appreciate the APS TT kit that I have even more. APS did pretty much EVERYTHING that Corky Bell said you should do to put together a first class TC system.

Thumbs up Corky Bell

Mr. Bell is widely considered the "father of turbocharging" in the US. I had the fortunate pleasure of having him turbocharge my 1985 RX-7 ( with the 13B rotary ) & found Corky to be a wealth of information & a blast to be around!! He's now in San Antonio & focusing on Hondas & Acuras . I have that same book & referred back to it many times regarding my own build - GOOD STUFF!!

Its pretty good, but very basic. I actually learn a LOT more by talking to folks in person and online.

Agreed, I'm in the process of reading the book now. It's a must read for anyone even thinking of boosting their motor.

I also picked up, "How to Tune and Modifying Engine Management Systems" by Jeff Hartman, that was a good read as well.

great book for sure. a little out-dated.

however... very worth it, because from what I have seen, just about everyone who reads it is suddenly an experienced super tuner!!! thats worth $22 easy.
